That's true but every striker at the club is guilty of missing easy chances. Today just summed up our lack of a predator upfront and although we have Nardiello who can finish I think the weaknesses in other parts of his game don't make him a better option.

Sorry

But I can't see how Hayes miss was worse than Richards or Devaneys.

They were all crap, but I'm sorry, whichever way you look at it, there are no two strikers at this club good enough to warrant Hayes losing his place.

Hayes and Nardiello should be given the chance to play together- Hayes is capable of finding Nardiello's runs early enough for him to be onside, and importantly, Nads is capable of putting the chances away.

THAT was the worst miss of the game!

I'm pretty certain the ref gave a goal kick, but it was difficult to tell.

I thought Hayes didn't take enough care with his chance. Ironically, Richards finished superbly when he was blown for offside. I'm convinced these guys are good enough, but at this moment in time, we need someone to score get goals.

I'm just not gonna reply to Hayes threads anymore, its a complete waste of time.

Conlon and Jarman. They'll win us the league.

No he didn't

Happened right in front of us. He gave a goal kick. The Chesterfield defenders were going ape-**** with the ref for allowing it to carry on. Should have knocked it in with his knob.

RE: Perhaps its me thats wrong. sorry I forgot to look at the his goalscoring record

Right in simple terms this is a list of attributes for a good striker.

Finishing
Holding the Ball Up
Link Up play
Getting in behind a defence
staying onside
winning headers
tracking back/tackling
crossing
positional sense
strength
first touch
work rate

A top striker will be good at pretty much all of these unfortunatly we don't have a striker who excels in anymore than 3.

Hayes - Link up, positional sense, first touch
Richards - Strength, Holding up the ball, work rate
Nardiello - finishing, getting in behind
Wright - Tracking back, work rate

Basically were **** upfront!

Hello Simon, you're dead right, we are **** up front, but it's not a new thought, and with some imagination during the transfer window, things could be very different, and I'm talking top two.

The difficulty is..

that clubs arent generally willing to let players go until the Summer. None of the top sides in our division have signed players to make them more clinical. Its going to be a rollercoaster ride til the end because Oldham, us, Colchester and Swansea are all very much under pressure, and we need one of the front two to hit form.

Thats why I think Nardiello and Hayes, because for all their weaknesses, Hayes does create and Nardiello does finish.

He was pointing at the floor (no idea what that means though)

The Chesterfield goalie was remonstrating with him and he just kept pointing at the apex of the six yard box. I have no idea why he would be arguing, apart from saving his blushes.

RE: The difficulty is..

We need to look at the strengths and weaknesses of our strikers and find a partnership that works. Ideally we'd have a player like Shipperley or Ward who can do the ugly stuff really well but also finish but we don't so the problem is who to play. Without Hayes we lack creativity, without Nardiello we lack a finisher and without Richards we lack someone to put himself about and hold the ball up. For me it's time we gave Nardiello a run upfront with Hayes.

That all happened after the referee had made his signal.

I was directly level from the incident and thought it was a foul and I watched the ref straight away. I even took my eye of the miss to to it.

I am not talking out of my arse the ref gave a foul.

He definitely gave a foul, signalled a push on the keeper.

the biggest weakness in barnsleys game is missing easy fookin chances, nardiello can score goals who cares about the weaknesses in his game.thats 3 games running we,ve thrown away games.
