I'm fully behind him. I just feel sick at the audacity of the man to criticise our history when he's come from a place with none, barring proving us with **** managers.

Sod it. I'm getting arrogant. The supporters are the lifeblood of football but as a club they have achieved next to nothing and never will. I think some Barnsley supporters would be happy if we were the same.

For the millions of Man United/City/Chelsea/Liverpool/etc fans out there, clubs like Barnsley are the very definition of a nothing club...

How do you know that they'll never achieve anything? Have we achieved anything and do you think that we ever will (again)?

I think you're supporting the wrong club if these "achievements" are the most important thing for you.

The millions of Man Utd fans who follow them on Sky Sports? There opinions are meaningless to me.

The Barnsley BBS users' opinions are probably meaningless to the Rochdale fans too.

For the fans I hope Rochdale go up. A proper club with loyal fans and I can't resent them that. Middlesborough is just as horrible as I remembered. Makes Tarn look glamorous.

    Re: That's not the point.

FA Cup Winners, longest time spent in the second tier by a million miles, played in the Premier League, knocked Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea out of the FA Cup, won a play off final, played in the biggest club match in the world - the last club game at the most iconic football stadium in the world, sold a player for a record transfer fee.

When Rochdale and their ilk have done that I will reconsider my opinion.

I'm sure they are. So why are people taking umbrage?

    Re: That's not the point.

So we're massive now because we won the FA Cup more than a century ago?

Have a look at Manchester United's achievements here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_United_F.C.

Really makes us look like a "nothing club", eh? :(

Those past "glories" of us don't mean much to me. We might be in the same division with this "nothing club" next season. How does that make you feel?

I'm not taking umbrage. I just think it's stupid for a Barnsley fan (or for a fan of any club really) to belittle other small clubs.

If everyone was like that football in this country would be in a better state.

What? Why support a "nothing club" when there are more successful clubs in the Greater Manchester area?

    Re: That's not the point.

Don't think I said we were "massive".

Man Utd's achievements are as meaningless to me as ours are to a Rochdale fan.

It's 99% certain we will be in the same division as that nothing club next season - and plenty of other nothing clubs too. How does that make me feel? Distraught.

When you've spent the vast majority of your life watching your team play at the level they should be it's hard to accept anything less.

Biggest club match in the world?? I was there, and it was awesome, even losing, but the biggest club match in the world??! Steady on.
