Anyone think Wayne Rooney will break the England scoring record?

    The standard may have gone up Phil but its all relative so scoring goals is just as difficult now as it was then in fact I'd say it is possibly easier to score goals now. I don't think Rooney will beat the record, at least I hope he doesn't.

    I remember seeing Rooney play in the 2004 euros. Incredible. What a talent we had on our hands.

    Wtf has happened to him?

    Nowhere near as good as some people make out. I think he will probably beat the record having said that.

    It hasn't gone up in England though, we've gone backwards over the years. We're producing fitter footballers but that's it, skill level and technical ability is way down. The class and quality just isn't there any more. There's not a midfielder fit to lace Charlton's boots, not a defender in the same class as Booby Moore, Jimmy Greaves - best striker I ever saw and he couldn't get in the England World Cup team.

    He might break it, not sure he'll ever end up being discussed as an all time England great like Gazza though.
