    Its all well and good having an evaluation copy- but pointless unless it works. I was mithered into taking a copy by my brother in law- but I bet he just wanted to see if it worked before loading it on his own laptop!</p>

    So the music software isn't working on it, am I correct in assuming that these might not be entirely legal music software products, so are Microsoft deliberately making them incompatible?

    Music is ripped in ATRAC format- so its encrypted for use and cannot be distributed.</p>

    Probably more of a case that they want you to use windows media format so can't be bothered to add 3rd party music format compatibility.</p>

    RE: Any news on PC manufacturers installing as standard?

    Just been to PC World to sus out a lap top for a mate and on certain packages they are offering a buy now with a free upgrade when it is launched next year.
