Re: I, like all the rest, used to drink and drive when I was younger

To be fair, I once fell asleep driving down Park Road towards Cemetary Lane at 8am after a night shift and drove straight over the Sheffield Road junction. Luckily the lights were in my favour and I only wrote off the front wheel where I hit the raised bit of curb around the lights. If anyone was crossing at the time I would have ploughed straight through them. Not something I am proud of, but it can happen very easily for anyone working shifts - particularly in this nice weather when the neighbours spend all the daytime cutting the grass, having BBQs and generally making lots of noise while you are trying to sleep.

Not wanting to defend Nudger at all but Tiredness is responsible for more accidents than drunk driving - of course its all about degree as well - a couple of pints and just over the limit you are more likely to have an accident than sober - but less likely than if you are driving down a motorway having not slept for 24 hours

I suppose its because I've been there

..............can you remember the time that you used to help people who couldn't walk, because they were so pissed, get to their car so they could drive home?

Remember one doctor in particular that I and a mate had to carry to his car so he could drive home.......and this was a regular thing

But that was then.........some people on here think things have always been like they are now............they haven't !!!!!!!!!!

It wern't that long ago that there were no home computors, no smart phones, no useless teenagers..........and most people used to drive round from pubs to clubs shagging and boozing nearly every day of the week............that was what living in the mining towns and villages around Barnsley was all about.

All the "johnny come lately, try hard, look at me's", should take tips from this guy. He's been at it on here for years and never fails to get a bite.
    Quality, not quantity, eh nudge?

........it has often been said to me by people that read this message board.........."tha does some pillocking on that message board, dunt tha Nudger?"

    ..............my answer to that is............no, I don't

I have got quite a good memory of things thats happened to me in the past.......all the events on here are true. But there is also a shed load of other things that I would definitly not post on here.

So in a nutshell.........I tell the truth on incidents in my life.......and I tell the truth on how I see things e.g. politics, football related matters etc.
I dont look for a reaction..........although I do have a laugh when I see people on here calling me names etc, its funny.
If people think I'm a lunatic.....well that doesn't matter does it

Problem is Nudger most people replying to you on this thread haven't done much outside get up, go to work, play on the computer and go to bed. They don't understand a life not bound by political correctness and policies and procedures. Thee tell em sithi.

..................I think its more of an age thing...........I'm probably older than most on this message board and lived through an era that was different to the one that we live in now.
Its rough now.......but it were rougher a few years ago.
The trick is.............to be able to identify the changes and then compare them to how things used to be.
No way would I drink and drive now. Its totally unacceptable to me and the vast majority of people.........but peoples perception and their way of life was not always like this.
