All Yorkshire Clubs, like to keep an eye on em, living up ere in Brid weve been going to Brid, Scarborough, an this season seen Beverley a couple of times.
Used to like city in the late 90s and early 00 before they turned into a plastic club. Now I'm not that bothered about football it bores me compared to when I used to watch it 20 years ago. Love barnsley hate football.
England. Apart from that I can't see the point. Barnsley or the death of football for me. Having said that and based on recent performances perhaps this current Barnsley squad is the death of football....
Toon as the wife is a Geordie. Always had a soft spot for York, quite a few mates support them, been there more than any other team other than BFC. I always choose a team to follow as much as I can on TV each season too, based on the excitement level they bring, had Ajax a few seasons back, and Napoli a couple ago.
The rats are Internationale, they were actually formed out of AC Milan because they didn't want any foreigners in their side, hence being called "International". AC were actually formed by a bloke from Nottingham, there's some history around Nottingham about it. There isn't much trouble during the Milan derby, apart from behind the goals where the Ultras sit the rest of the stadium is mixed supporters. It stems from a pact by the two Ultra groups in the 80s that forbids trouble in the stadium during the derby.
Thought I’d get a lot of Barnsley or nowt answers. I like Brentford because they are what we could have been if we’d had a plan. Buy good players, get an exceptional coach and make it worth his while to stay and sell players for what they are worth. Then reinvest in good players.
Brentford were paying 40 to 50k a week in wages, in the championship, and it’s in London. We could never have been Brentford.
No second team as such - but always like to see Liverpool and Leicester do well; my dad and grandad’s teams respectively. Both gone, my dad for over twenty years. My grandad did get to see Leicester win the league which was incredible for him. I’ll not be upset if and when Liverpool equal United’s record of twenty league titles this year.
That’s what you call investment and we sold out in the prem. we could have been that big. Look at the choice people have in London.
Yep, if our owners spent £100 million plus on us to get us kickstarted I’m sure we’d be someone else’s second team.
A fairly common theme on this thread is "Not BFC, not bothered" what a sad state of affairs that is, speaks volumes for the way the sport has been destroyed. Back in the 70s and 80s, Match of the Day was a must watch but I've not watched it for decades. PS As a student I occasionally went to St James Park to watch the Toon.
Wouldn’t we love it though beating Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs. Instead of wondering whether we will finish top half or bottom half. What is the current value of Brentford?
In my experience, most kids had a big team that they supported because they were doing well and on the telly. Kids in my class at school in the early 70d mostly supported Leeds or Liverpool, then Man United when they got relegated and ripped up (literally) the old second division. They changed clubs shamelessly. We also had Arsenal and Spurs fans because Cyril Knowles and John Radford were local to us, and Pete Knowles played for Wolves. I was a Man United fan until I first went to Oakwell, although I wouldn’t say they’re my second favourite team. I think City in their pomp are a joy to watch though.
Another for Dunfermline ( my sister lives near the ground) and Vitesse Arnhem ( wife’s relatives are from there )
No. Not if it meant someone having to bankroll the club in such a way, I’d be very uneasy about it. That kind of investment is obscene for a club the size of Brentford. I loved beating Liverpool & Chelsea etc as ‘battling Barnsley’
