Just wondering if I’m OK to take a bag with a flask of Bovril to the match this afternoon or is it likely I won’t be able to take it in?
Hopefully the club will comply with any instructions they receive about security even if it does cause a small inconvenience for us fans .
Last home game a fellow in front of me went in the the East Stand with a large flask,it wasn't in a bag or anything.
Do you know where I can find the analysis that shows the link between security incidents at football and people with small rucksacks?
I'm absent until the new year but I will continue bringing what I always have done, especially on a cold day. Flask of hot tea, sandwiches, phone, wallet etc. It's been a long time since I queued in that draughty space under the East Stand for expensive food and drink and I don't see that changing any time soon. It's just that now they have introduced a "size of bag rule" I will have to put said items in a carrier bag instead of using my trusty SMALL rucksack. I've no problem with security measures but common sense needs to be used all round.
I've got a rucksack with me today. Not sure what's going to happen but hopefully I can just get it searched and get in. If not I'll throw a tantrum Does anyone know where you get your bag searched? Is it every gate?
Thankfully to my knowledge there has been none , but hey bombers kill children at pop gigs using bombs in bags, but of course checking bags at football has got to be dependent on size of bag , surely it doesn"t matter as long as the checks get done does it ?
I suppose there will always be the H&S argument (isn't there always?) about trip hazards and inconvenience to others. I suppose if you dump a large bag by your feet and someone tries to get past and falls over it there could be all kinds of consequences for everybody, including the club. In my case it's a relatively small item and it sits between my feet while I'm seated and gets picked up if someone is coming past me (thankfully I am on a row where there is no constant traffic, unlike some). So, for me, it's all down to common sense and courtesy. Unfortunately there are too many who don't use those guidelines, so the rest of us have to suffer.
For info I did take a flask and cushion in in a carrier bag. Steward on the turnstiles was happy after checking that it was fine to take in
