Tykes for me.No other football club is ever referred to as this. There are plenty who are known as The Reds eg Man Utd, Liverpool.

Got to agree with Nightmare on this.

We have a very distinct nickname.........but some Barnsley fans even now want to be called 'The Reds' just like every other club that plays in England e.g. Man United, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest are all 'The Reds'
    THERE IS ONLY ONE.........TYKES !!!

And most importantly, every person in Yorkshire is a Tyke and they are a proud lot..........so the nickname of Barnsley Football Club envelops all the people of Yorkshire.
This is an absolute gift for marketing Barnsley Football Club

But Barnsley people and the fans of Barnsley football Club are generally very conservative and are reluctant of change.
I'm hoping Mansford gives the club a massive kick up the backside that lifts the club out of the 1970s and into the present day

I've always wanted a badge like Chelsea's old badge, BFC, instead of CFC, and a oakwell instead of a lion, or plain and simple BFC like Glasgow Rangers, or something like Brentfords to bring all our past crests together

In top left a Toby Tyke, Top right council badge,
Bottom left Oakwell, Bottom right Yorkshire rose.

    Good idea.
I wished I would have thought of that one.
You need to send that suggestion to Mr Mansford.
