I am not disagreeing with you, I think he should be relieved of his duties Monday morning but my initial post was IF he keeps us in the championship for the 3rd season has it been an unmitigated disaster, hence "are we too hard on Davey"...?

I would expect a press release on the lines of "although he consolidated championship status he has not continually improved the team, therefore both parties have agreed to part company, we wish him will for the future etc etc".

When was his breif to keep us in the championship?

That certainly wasn't what the club owner Patrick Cryne stated at the beginning of this season or for that matter last season

I think Kevin Phillips was a slightly more

    household name at the time!

Hardly a youngplayer plucked from the lower leagues at a cut price? Just goes to illustrate the totally different budget Davey has been working to when he can afford to look at household names too.

Having seen a few SPL games and the players who make up

those teams, then yes, they are lower league, apart from the top 2 or 3 teams. Why else would he have only cost £25K?

    And?

Aberdeen are 5th in SPL. Somewhere around Championship standard I reckon.

I wouldn't say the same about teams at the bottom of the SPL who I think would struggle in the Championship.

The strikers also need to shoulder some blame

Davey deserves some of the blame when:

    - he clearly plays people outside their comfortable positions, whilst players better suited to those positions are on the bench.

    - he puts four strikers on the bench.

    - he switches to a defensive format to try to protect a lead when we would have been better pushing forward.

    - he makes some terrible loan signings and then insists on playing them. I know Andranik has a lot of fans on here, but he is one of the worst players I have seen in a Reds shirt for some time. He is often out of position, let's opposition players breeze past him as if he's not there, he is too slow in getting back to do his defensive duties, he has a bad attitude (as shown at Cardiff and against Forest) and he gives the ball away too much. I really don't see why people like him so much. I'd prefer to see Disco on the pitch.

    - he is slow to see what is clearly going to happen on the pitch. At the beginning of the season, and I can't remember who it was against, but a blind man could see that Ian Hume was going to get himself sent off. Yet Davey didn't.

    - he displays breathtaking arrogance, the worst example being him saying that he won the argument to send a highly rated keeper with a damaged cruciate ligament back on to the pitch.

    - he uses a 15 year old kid to deflect attention away from himself.

    - he messes around with JCR.

But the strikers also need to shoulder some of the blame, because our defence has generally done a decent job this season, with the odd blunder (Kozzy insisting on committing himself too early, Muller having his off days, Souza being slow to deal with problems).

    - Mifsud, when he's not offside, has missed more one on ones than Odejayi. Big disappointment.

    - Macken, for most games, seems to hide. He's slow to get into positions, he seems scared of heading the ball, doesn't seem to have the ability to create the space in which to receive the ball and he's missed some sitters.

    - Rigters, big disappointment. I was expecting more from him.

    - Odejayi - the small amount of confidence he did have has completely gone.

    - Hume looked totally out of shape at the beginning of the season and this lasted for a fair few matches.

    - Mostto was just not good enough.

    - Cureton - mmm, let's get a player fit for a relegation rival so he can score against us. That one backfired didn't it. To be honest though, he wasn't that good and was always offside.

I'll leave Boggy out of this, because what he lacks in technique he more than gives in effort. And give him a chance and he tends to score. When the ball doesn't get tangled up inbetween his feet like at Coventry of course!

I just can't see that any of our strikers would have bothered the top 10 in the POTY vote.

The strikers signed, coached and picked by simon davey

if you're blaming them then you're blaming him.

One minute you're implying Tommy Wright wasn't a bad signing because now he's in the SPL and then you're saying that the SPL is the equivalent of the lower leagues.

You then said the top 2 or 3 are half decent in the SPL, now it's the top half.

    AR's knight in shining armour.

I think I was saying 5th would equate to Championsip standard

The top 2 or 3 (Rangers, Celtic) would be Premier standard.

The bottom few would be lower league, look at the players who played for ICT v Hamilton on Saturday and if you aren't completely clueless about football then you'll see that. The player who's League 1 contract was terminated in January for example!
