Example:
Where I live, Friday nights are the nights, pubs tend to be heaving with an extra 3-400 people hitting the village. Anyway, once a month the nutters from renishaw come and have a do with the nutters from round here. Not just a few punches but full 30 on 30 rumbles up and down th main drag. Now the local pub owners know what night it will happen, the staff do, the locals do and the police do. Anyway, on a normal friday night there is the odd van as expected, however when they know its going to go off a police officer is not seen nor heard and chaos ensues. THe following friday theres more coppers knocking about than at a BFC game.

    Example:
Local feral kids play on the recyle bins in tescos and smash it up. the Community bobbies go for a bike ride down a country lane, ones a bloke the others a little blonde woman who is attractive. The kids round here go down this lane for a bit of a shag on a night time....

    Example:
Neighbours and myself have over the last 12 weeks all reported in various ways, face to face, local bobby station etc people going round the backs of our homes and checking out the gardens, sheds etc. Tow houses up the road got burgled, never saw a copper except in tescos out of the rain feeding themselves. I took it upon myself to report th said going ons to these Pc's and again we as a neighbourhood rasied the issues with the higher authorities. Couple of weeks ago a neighbour gets done over, they followed her into the house and snatched her bag. Two hours later WPC nobody turns up and does door to door warning us of the threat of burgualrs....

DT i understand your issues but....

it comes down to numbers there are not enough of us to go around.

Le me ask you this question how many officers do you think there would be on a night shift to police doncaster for example??? (don't include the town centre just all the outlying areas?????????

18 and thats to cover from thorne to mexborough to bawtry up to norton and skellow.

My point is till the government put more money into it and give more bobbies it will never be a preventative force just a reactive one!!!!!!

My first example is that they can prevent it kicking off yet never do they ignore it totally.

According to my lad, Barnsley town centre has 8 proper coppers per shift. Not counting PCSO's, Specials etc.

    My example...

About 2 years ago some local youth sprayed some graffiti on the village bus shelter. It took the local bobby almost 2 hours to get to the crime scene (well he had to finish his tea and find his bike clips),by which time the youth in question was grounded in his room with a sore ear and wet clothes after being made to scrub his handiwork off the shelter.

I don't think the bobbys have been back since then.

Don't know what you're all moaning about.

    My example

Some pissed up **** was walking doen the street at about 4pm just knocking the wing mirrors off of parked cars. Police were called and were here within a hour, from description they knew who they were after. Took a statement from me and blood samples where he'd cut himself on my car mirror. Picked him up in a pub nearby, bloke went to court and I got £200 damages.

Also had other cause to call police in Barnsley and been satisfied with response I've had.

    RE: Don't you mean...

jeesus talk about pedantic if you can't talk in general terms on here each post is going to be 3 miles long.Obviously I did'nt mean each policeman is a pillock just like when people say all politicians are fiddling their expenses you know that theres probably a couple who are not.All I was pointing out is that it beggars belief that a guy supposedly at the top of his tree could be so thick, and no apparently not the first time he's cocked up.Can you honestly hand on heart say you've never dione something similar?? (chinny)

    Also...

don't you think theres something wonderfully ironic in someone who works in journalism saying this board indulges in mass hysteria. All right I fully realise that not every journalist or newspaper indulges in etc etc etc

Well, it doesn't look as though any of them saw anything

You can bet your bottom dollar that if Mr Tomlinson had shoved the officer, they would be playing a different tune.

Wouldn't you be better taking it up with the officers involved in this incident instead of demanding an explanation of useless scraps of information from a bloke who's got **** all to do with it?
