Re: If you start charging I think I have to agree with you on every point you've made. The only argument I can think of to argue the opposite is that of the hospitals. Would you rather have art in a museum in london or have replica's in the museum and another dedicated childrens hospital to save lives? Sorry if that's a bit provocative (is that even the word i'm after?), I'm interested to hear your answer to it. Though without wishing to second guess you I think I might know your answer
I have to say it is only for matches we park there, so Tuesday after 6, Saturdays and bank holidays so maybe it changes. I do remember when it first started it was to attract shoppers/visitors to the town centre over the xmas period, like I say about 5 years ago, and was through the week days too.
If the Government of the day Insisted on using the blackmail of refusing to fund hospitals unless artwork or artefacts were sold to raise the monies, I believe the hospitals' needs would take priority. However, I doubt the Government of any political persuasion would sink so low. At least I hope they wouldn't.
only in Barnsley would a discussion about art end in discussing the merits of free car parking , priceless
Re: If the Government of the day Again a good point. I expected you to mention the money that magically appears for other things again, which I fully agree with you on by the way. What is your opinion on buying more art for museums? Should that be done or should we stick to what we've already got?
You gave me A specific either/or situation. Working within the rigid parameters set, I gave my answer. I don't see why there has to be a maximum figure set for pieces of art and, if there were, who would set it in an unbiased manner?
Re: You gave me Don Rowing can set it. It's ok you gave the answer that I'd agree with every time. By the way I dont agree with Toby Foster's view.
I'm not used To being involved in serious discussions on the BBS. So here's a lovely piccie of the gorgeous Nurse Gladys. http://veehd.com/video/4602822_Open-All-Hours-406-The-Mystical-Boudoir-of-Nurse-Gladys-Emmanuel

In response to the OP on replica works of art, i'd see it as like watching a tribute band. Even if they were very, very good - it just wouldn't feel right.
