Not a clue how good he will turn out, but we aren't international class team. KEith Hill reckons he will go far, premier league but we don't need him to be world class. all need need is him to be top champ class by 20 and we could make a lot of money whether he loves Barnsley Football Club or not.

That'll be the Martin Allen who's achieved exactly what in football?

Not really but he will play deep in a 3.

THe best way to describe how he plays Redstar is Charlie Adam when he was at Blackpool. The ball winners seemed to play in front of him.
Anyway, he's got to work on one pass but i can't remember if its the pass from right to left long of the pass left to right long. It's something the Ronnie Brason mentioned and Keith Hill and give him another year and he'll have it in the club bag.

I think it'd be good money but not outrageous considering the club and market at minute.

I really hope he's as good as you say. I also hope he's a midfielder in the old style like a Redfearn type.

I'd go mental if we sold him for that to Leicester.

    Gaz.
There isn't a right or way to play football or a wrong way. you play how you think you will win and excel.

A perkins tyke is needed when you have a ball player in front of you ( Butterfield) and someone who can get from box to box (DrinkWater). If you have 2/3 same then you will either be lacking going forward or you'll leave the defence helpless.

I wish we could still have midfielders that could do it all.

    But they will be weaker.

Not one player on earth can do it all.
cristiano ronaldo and Messi both do similar things but they can't do it all.

Midfielders used to be able to. This craze for defensive midfielders started with Makelele

And we've won what playing our way? Which should tell you one thing - it's wrong. Other countries have had holding midfielders for the last two decades that put our creative ones to shame (Dunga, Mattheus, Simone off the top of my head). More creative players (Hagi, Pirlo, Scifo, Ballack) have been able to put a shift in and still retain possession (and yes, do 'simple' passes rather than go for glory. You don't 'need' certain types of players, as that limits them straight away. You want 11 good players who are good at their position, not certain elements of it.

If you look at Barnsley Perkins can do simple passes. Korey Smith said he kept the ball well on is first post match interview. But he kept put a perfect chip in like Butterfield for the davies goal at london road.

Roy Keane, Pat Vieira, Bryan Robson, Neil Redfearn. 4 midfielders there who could do everything.

Roy keane had limitations and so did Veira.
Keane had scholes or sat nav as the Manchester players like to say.

What limitations, both scored goals, we're box to box and defended
