Problem is it's cheap up here but there's **** all in terms of jobs for young, educated people up here. I'm moving down to Stevenage next week because that's where I could get work doing something that's suited to me. I'd love to stay in Barnsley because I'm as proud as anyone to come from here but it means working in a job I don't want for NMW.

But then again I'll go down there, earn a good wage and still have to pay over £500 per month to rent a one bedroom flat plus it's much more expensive to live down there in general. I can't see me ever affording an house down there so hopefully I'll get to move back up here at some point.

I'd challenge that, mate. There are good jobs up here doing good things. I've worked for EE and I'm now at Plusnet and lived in Barnsley throughout. The place is a perfect commuter to Leeds/Sheff/Manchester and even further - the jobs will come, just hope those with something to offer are still here to take them.

I'm sure there are good jobs, but very few that I wanted to do. Maybe I was a bit too specific in my aims as I wanted to be a buyer on a grad scheme but pretty much everything I foiund wasn't based in Yorkshire and the ones here I got rejected for. It's hard enough getting a job coming out of uni so you've got to take what you can.
