So there is your answer to the conundrum. Stop drinking.

No fags no alcohol loads of money. Sorted.

Glad to be of help mate. LOL

I read the smoking in the toilets thread with interest. Can you tell me mate, is Oakwell a non smoking area? Or is smoking permitted in the toilets officially?

I know at Tannadice smoking is not permitted anywhere in the ground. Only wondering if Oakwell is the same. Now I am wondering if smoking is allowed at the lower league grounds where you can still stand in the open air to watch a game. I must make enquiries into that one. Not being a smoker it has never occurred to me about the situation.

No one smokes in the toilets at Oakwell. At the side of the East Stand and the Ponty end there are areas outside that don't really serve a purpose other than being a walkway to the stands. Quite large areas. People go there to smoke. Do the club officially allow this? No. But they know it happens and the stewards have clearly been advised not to do anything about it. Because of these areas, no one smokes inside, no one has a crafty *** in the bogs and no one who doesn't smoke is unduly inconvenienced. I think it's a good system that works well. We're not allowed to do it but the club turn a blind eye. I'm sure one or two fans don't like that it happens and want the club to stop it, but really the only people we are hurting are ourselves, we're away from the non-smokers and we're outside bothering no one.

Thanks for that Jay. To me it all seems a perfect and fair solution to a very emotive subject. So if you don't want to smell the obnoxious smell of cigarettes, do not go anywhere near those out of the way open air spaces. All seems perfect to me.

Now what is the answer to the mystery fan sitting nearby who continually farts the remnants of his chicken vindaloo he had the previous night.
    Any suggestions?

That's the biggest problem since the smoking ban. Pubs now smell of farts!
