We do indeed, but if we skittle them out soonish and then collapse ourselves, at least we're not going to be miles off! Haha
We've still to bowl them out. Whats saying the tail wags and gets them up to 250 and England are all out for 150.
There's a long way to go in this one. I don't think anyone is assuming it is a given at such an early stage. Broad has been on fire though and we have been brilliant so far today.
The booing doesn't appear to have affected Smith. To get a fifty on that pitch and with nobody staying with him at the other end is a good half century. Much better than the standard of umpiring.
Check this stat out for Steve Smith. I'd say it's pretty poor we've still not found a way to bowl to him bearing in mind he tore us a new one down under 18 months ago. Are we just concentrating on all the othrr batsman?!! He's likely to be the key difference between the two sides...
You don't start off as a spin bowler at number 10 if you're technique stands up. Most over rated batsmen ever.
This is the big worry. They only need one or two others to chip in as you say because we can't get Smith out.
I don't think we need to be worried about our bowling, especially when we get Archer back. We will lose matches on our batting capabilities in my opinion. I will be shocked if they are able to post a huge total and declare, for example.
I think it will likely follow suit of more recent series in UK, if we pass 300 it will be rare, and it will be our bowling attack that puts us in position to win. I doubt there will be many hundreds from us. I hope someone stands up to be counted, but i'm not hopeful. I think they are going to give Roy chance to play a more natural game and just get some runs, even if a bit streaky. If he can average 25-30 this series, he's probably done better than other openers of late.
He only averages 60, far superior to either Clarke or Ponting, He’s also definitely lucky to get those 60 every time he bats in all conditions with no technique. Goodness me I’ve read some stuff on here.
He's a dreadful batsmen with such a fidgety awkward technique, standard fielding and bowling positions don't work. yet teams still bowl fifth stump and bowl juicy deliveries he can clip off his legs. Why people don't bowl fast leg stump Yorkers once they've drawn him across is beyond me. Heavy leg side fields, leg slips. He'd be lucky to average 6. Dreadful player made to look good in an age of meh cricketers.
Are you trying to say he's in the same league as them? Let's see where his average is at after another hundred or so tests. I'll wager it will be less than it is now.
I agree with that, i'd have him over Root. I don't think he is one of the all time greats though or ever will be.
Call me old fashioned, but he's lucky to have any average at all, to still be allowed in the team, and not have his memory purged. A cheat, and a proven convicted (sic) one would never get into any team of mine.
