    You could argue Aus could have withdrawn the appeal but other than that they didn't do anything wrong, Bairstow did.

    The wicket keeper threw the ball before Bairstow had even started to walk which suggests to me that he wasn’t being sneaky or underhand (although within the rules) Bairstow simply should’ve been more careful

    If they see him wondering out of his crease then full credit to them. First thing you're taught (or maybe not these days!) is to guard your crease.

    It was the end of the over it's not like he was trying to sneak a run in a tight 20 twenty game. It was bad sportsmanship of the worst kind. The Aussies are cheating lovely people end of story

    Bairstow was clearly not going for a run so I still think it was bad sportsmanship …. they didn’t need to accept it.
    It’s supposed to be a game of gentlemen !

    What gets me is that England have an absolute army of expensively assembled analysts and technology watching every ball from every angle possible and yet not one of them have picked up on Jonny instinctively leaving his crease after every ball and warned him. Even Sky (whose coverage is appallingly bad imho) picked this up straight away.

    I can't think of a duller commentary duo than Atherton and Strauss to have on for an exciting passage of play - and it certainly does nothing to dispel the air of upper class elitism that cricket is riddled with.

    That's not the point, the ball was still in play. I'd agree with you if Carey had it, held it for a while then threw it but it was all one move. For all Bairstow knew it could have been at the boundary!
