16 first innings 10 second innings and a stupid dismissal. Bairstow definitely needs to take his share of the blame here.
Classless post match interview by their captain, hopefully this reminds the England players they aren't your mates and will want to win at all costs.
Ponting, Taylor, Clarke and Border were top captains and recognised the Ashes as a pinnacle of the game but they were also fair people who respected that, at the end of the day, it’s only a game ! Cummins could have given way today with the Bairstow incident but didn’t ….he’s a very very good bowler but,as a captain, he’s in the bag along with Smith
I've changed my mind on the Baistow dismissal after listening to Stokes and McCollom. Johnny thought it was the end of the over on the basis that the umpires had started moving to their "next over" positions. Previously I thought he had been a bit dozy. Certainly not in the spirit of the game.
You are being very picky here. Of course that can happen, but that is something that will happen whilst he is playing a shot or avoiding the ball, so I think you can take it that that scenario is covered with what I referred to. A stumping is usually when the batsman leaves his crease in advance of or whilst playing a shot/dealing with the delivery. Is that better?
Terrible sportsmanship by the Aussies and definitely not in the spirit of the game. Am I surprised? No, they’ve always been capable of it.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/66082409 MCC "apologises unreservedly" to the Aussies for Long Room abuse. What???? So members are not allowed to speak to players walking past them especially when tempers were running high. Poor ickle Khawaja and Warner! They don't like being called cheats. The game (the world in fact) is going mad/has gone mad when cheating, so-called top sportsmen demand an apology because people have had the nerve to boo them and call them nasty names! I don't care that the dismissal was within the laws of the game. It was still cheating, as was those two "catches" from Smith and Starc. It's just disgraceful that the current world champions can only win if they stoop as low as they can to get a result. Very angry watching those antics the last few days.
Some bizarre comments about the Bairstow incident. 'Cummins should have withdrawn it." Not in the spirit of the game." What a load of absolute whinging Pom nonsense. When England learn to play cricket with a bit of the Teak mentality the Aussies show - then they might win something. Knowing the rules and not being a clot might just be a start!
Love to know what that old bloke said to Khawaja. Wonder what makes him different to the other ten....
Weren't Australia crying yesterday about a none catch that was clearly grounded? Winjing goes both ways so to try make one team superior than the other on that front is definitely daft.
Still disagree. The ball went straight to Carey and he threw it at the stumps straight away. Jonny didn't have a clue where the ball was and the over hadn't been called because there was no time for that to happen.
err we do know the rules, we also know how to play the game. On further viewing Bairstow had indicated he was in his ground before he moved, he umpire was passing the bowler his cap and the other was moving towards the stumps, to all intents and purposes the over was finished. Stokes has said he wouldn't do it, but if you are happy winning underhand...crack on I played under some very uncompromising captains but not one of them would have allowed a stunt like that
