Too bloody right. Went into town at lunch and just turned it back on to see Stokes going after review. At least they’ve just wasted on there, but I’m now regretting getting tickets for days 3, 4 and 5 at Headingley. Might not see much play, if this is anything to go by!

Wait until Labuschange and Smith get in on this pitch. Every time England appear to have got on top then they've gone and thrown a wicket away.

Well at least you will get your money back for Day 5 and you will see play on Day 3 and probably day 4

Id say that session was about even but the Aussies are still at least 1 wicket ahead

If Root and Bairstow do what we know they can do then they can put on a decent score.

Boland is accurate, but with this England team that just equates to obvious, they are taking him at 6 an over.

Lyon is always going to be a problem, but Hazlewood and Cummins are not looking that amazing.

Thought we were ahead at lunch. Definitely are. Leave it to the Yorkies. Boland going at two an over higher than his worst ever economy.

Aussies will know that a wicket or two in this session will have them on top going into tomorrow. Hopefully that dropped catch is costly

Alas not Aussies needed that had Jonny stayed in for another hour we would be well on top Now we need another decent partnership as Ali is our last recognised batsman - need to get to at least 400 pref 450

Horrible from Ali there. Poor to lose 4 wickets (so far) to the spinner on day 1.

I like England's positive attitude but a couple of the shots today have been absolutely ridiculous. They need to reign it in slightly. 450 minimum needed batting first.

There's no way the Aussies should be batting on the first day but looks like they could be!

The Stumpings are poor Brook was just desperately unlucky
Too many batsmen got in then out again

A bit daft this. Lyon hasn’t turned one all day and has 4, on a first day pitch.. I get it’s the new way but you’ve got to do it better if you want to bat like this

Brook unlucky, but as you say the stumpings were poor. And I think Pope will be disappointed with his wicket, basically missed a straight one.

We’ve not got enough here. Thrown a few wickets away.
Can see the Aussies posting 500 on this track….

I know there’s a few overs to go yet, but I think 400 would have been taken if offered.
I can only think that Moeen was under orders to do what he did but other than that we’ve done OK ish.
We’re two well matched sides so let’s not think negative and expect them to get a large score.

Bit harsh on Lyon he is getting some to turn but that wasn't the cause of his stumpings that was just outthinking the batsmen with speed and length

Thrown away too many wickets. Just the odd wicket like Crawley where it was good bowling. Bairstow batted well but getting out to a stumping is always poor.

That’s a very very daring declaration.

    Eek.

Interesting declaration - I still think we are 100 runs short but I guess Stokes wants a go at the Aussies tonight
