Not his finest knock! Saw a sublime century in person at Headingley before though so can't complain!

Woeful batting. 87 for 5 in a home test match. In a must win game

Time to drop Bairstow. Foakes did absolutely nothing wrong to deserve dropping for this series. I said yesterday that Australia had enough runs on the board at 260odd.

Owes us hundreds. Not delivered though. He's been disappointing all round, after being so good last year.

Remember the choice wasn’t Bairstow or Foakes. It was Foakes vs Crawley and a reshuffle. They fluffed that decision and it’s cost us both in terms or batting and keeping.

Bairstow has been awful behind the stumps.
Foakes is a top keeper and had also made some vital runs. Didn't deserve dropping at all.

Dropped b o llox in selection and in preparation. The Aussies were playing 4 day cricket in the County Championship we played Ireland.

    It was a horrible selection.

Foakes is a better keeper / batter than Bairstow
Would be happy with either Brook or Bairstow at 5 (or would've been at the start of the summer)
And would prefer pretty much anyone out of Root, Pope or Brook to open than Crawley.

Was an absolute cop out of a selection. Thought, we'd gone past that when Root resigned.

Last year he got a century and 7 catches in a test which is no mean achievement at all.
He then became the scapegoat as all our batters suddenly hit form( except Crawley ) and he was therefore replaced by Bairstow behind the stumps etc etc

Bairstow should have played no doubt it my mind he was unreal last year. Brook had to play with his exceptional form. For me, Bairstow should have been told his route back into the team was opening. Absolute clarity and gives him the chance to focus on his batting. He’s always been better when focussing on one skillset.

I agree it was a complete cop out and they fluffed it.

I agree, thought Johnny's batting would make up for things but doesn't seem to be the case.

Got away with it a few balls earlier then did the exact same thing. Brainless.

I think Stokes will have to start slogging soon. Woakes, Wood, Broad and Robinson won’t be getting many and we need at least another 60 or so to be in the game (weather permitting)

His confidence is probably shot from his keeping. His best innings with the bat in this series was the very first, before he had to keep.

Woakes seriously tried that shot in the last over before lunch?

    This Bazball approach is pathetic.

Seriously, do we lobotomise our batsmen before we send them out, it’s like duhhhh ‘ got a bat must hit ball’

Luckily our batters were scoring loads of runs blocking against this attack 18 months ago to only lose 4-0. Maybe the method isn’t the problem, maybe they’re just a bit ****.
