Was a poor performance no doubt. Might be questions of whether he should stay at first slip, but he’s still one of the best batters in the world.
Definitely. Foakes for Bairstow and Tongue for Robinson would be my pick. Would leave questions about the batting order though, as doubt Brook will be at 3 again

I don't think they'll keep Anderson out for Old Trafford.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's got it earmarked as his final test, but then I've been expecting that for years and it hasn't happened yet!

Problem is Anderson has offered nothing so far in this series. I think Robinson should be dropped for Tongue and Bairstow dropped for Foakes but the rest of the team remain the same.

I’d like to see Foakes in. Wanted him in for all the ashes, in an ideal world, keep Bairstow in to bat but not on the gloves. But even his batting hasn’t been great and there’s no room in the side for him to be a batter anymore. Especially now we’ve got Wood as a batter. :D

Anderson will come in for Robinson. Wouldn’t be against Tongue tho.

    Foakes is a must though.

    It may be.

He's absolutely smacked loads over his career, I just don't think he's done much in series so far. That's all

Well said, let's enjoy the moment of what was an immense day's cricket.
I'm just starting to relax. Sunday is a busy day for me and followed proceedings from a combination of ipad, tms, twitter and sky throughout the day. I could barely watch the last hour sober. Sitting here now a few glasses in its a nice warm glow of satisfaction of pride at that gutsy performance today. Roll on Old Trafford and well done Yorkshire - you done the country proud :):)

If Wood, Woakes, Broad and Tongue are fit to play then I think they should. Unless Anderson is showing more in the nets than he’s shown in the first two tests then picking him would be purely a sentimental selection.

Thank you! Crawley was brilliant in Pakistan. They're the same age (25), Crawley has 3 centuries in 30 tests, Pope 4 in 50.

    Massively, massively overrated.

    Crawley has played 37 tests.
    Pope has played 38 tests.

At leats get your facts straight.

Pope average under Stokes' captaincy - 40
Crawley average under Stokes' captaincy - 29

The scrutiny on Crawley is that he often gets out in the same manner, and struggles when there is any movement in the air or off the pitch. Looks a million dollars when the ball is straight, but will nick off as soon as there's any movement. Out second ball after the ball change yesterday.

Pope is guilty is of getting out after getting a start too often. But if Root is to stay at 4, then there doesn't seem to be anybody else capable of getting a start batting at 3.

He got 160+ runs and a wicket in the first test. He's done better than the likes of Warner, Smith...

I'm not a fan of either but then maybe I'm biased against their public school backgrounds. They play like it too, ie great when things are going well but don't adapt when the onslaught comes.

It's a huge problem in the game that the access for state educated kids is getting worse. Facilities being taken away in schools and communities. The expense of equipment pricing out ordinary families.

We could with the backstreet grit of the Flintoffs of this world in our higher order which suits the modern game. But things need to change dramatically at grassroots level for that to happen.

Only second behind Stokes in batting average. Bigger scoring rate surprisingly. Probably the 1st pick. To still pin your hopes on.
