But that's done to suit us , we can't moan because our opposition take a different tack!

Aussies playing the complete opposite to Bazball.

Smith on 13, think he'll push on if we don't get him out soon!

I think it's tactical. Keep England out there as long as they can. I reckon they'll accelerate on a whim.

I know Aus have retained the Ashes and may well win the series, but I do find their tactics baffling. For me they are less than the sum of their parts whereas we are greater than ours. The problem is that they have better players than us.

Labushagne got 9 from 82 deliveries …. he should be charged with not playing the game in the best spirit

Smith will have to start attacking surely.

I would have Smith, Cummings and starc of the Aussies.
My opinion re the aussie plan is they're playing a steady away approach and relying on English bazball to falter, which it can as we've seen. That's why we're losing 2-1 not winning.
Cummings captaincy is very schoolboy, I keep expecting him to get his notes from his pocket to check his field placement plan.

Hopefully that'll unsettle him even though it was given not out!

Bairstow has had a shocking series with the gloves.

    Oh Johnny.

Just can't do anything right in the gloves. One great catch last week, but in general he's having an absolute 'mare.

Did well there, just Smith was fractionally quicker!

Give over. He’s got big daft gloves on and he’s got to put them where the ball is. is he meant to let the ball fly past. All happens in a flash.

For mine it was out anyway. The bail had dislodged from the natural Position on middle stump sideways

I agree. I think the 3rd Umpire was looking at the front view and not the side view and was fooled by an optical illusion!

It’s a regulation action for a keeper. It’s another chance he’s messed up. Negligent decision to give him the gloves

Umpire had to give not out as he couldn’t conclusively see that the bail was dislodged with ball in hand before the sliding bat got home.
If Bairstow had’ve waited to get the ball in hand, he would’ve made his ground anyway.

We'll have to agree to disagree as it wasn't out for me. Wicketkeepers should be well practised in that skill.

In the end the umpire deliberated for a long time and gave it not out.

I stand by the fact that Jonny has had an awful series with the gloves. He's had one good catch but otherwise he's way below the standard expected at this level. The most disappointing is the number of balls in his zone he hasn't moved for. Root took a blinding catch earlier.. that should have been a routine one for the keeper.
