And they want to go and win the series outright now and spoil the party. Really don't get the timing of his announcement at all and I genuinely think it's given the Aussies that extra motivation to go and win the series outright.

Can't see it making much difference really.

"Well lads I know we didn't really care but now Broad is retiring, let's really try and win"

Tbf, I think Cummins would have wanted to do they regardless, it's a while since they've won the Ashes in England!

What a class player Cummins is too. Comes over to the other side of the world, plays all six tests in the space of two months, and walks away world test champion and retains the Ashes. That's a job well done for him.

The first test was England's until he came to the crease in the 4th and pretty much won it on his own. And the number of bowling spells he's put in to keep them in it when we looked like we're about to get away across all the tests is remarkable. Quality player who leads from the front.

Absolutely. Lead by example as the captain. No rest for him to play all six tests against the other two countries in the top 3, and as a fast bowler putting his body through pain.

I find it remarkable that he missed years because of injuries but now he is able to seemingly never miss a test these days as well as playing all the other formats. Fair play to him he’s a serious cricketer.

I've just been reading about the kid at Somerset, James Rew. Just passed 1000 County Championship runs in his first full season. He's a wicketkeeper too. Jonny will be looking over his shoulder nervously I think!!

Anderson is becoming almost unbowlable this series.

Unless Broad takes a five-for today, Zak Crawley for me.

Averaging over 53 opening the batting against supposedly the very best seam attack in world cricket - and at a strike rate of nearly 89. Amazing numbers.

He’d be my man of the series overall too. Khawaja has 16 more runs but having batted an extra innings.

He’s also caught excellently. He’s really come of age this series.

He hasn’t had a good series but that’s exceptionally harsh. His economy rate is as good as anyone else in the series.

It has also been an Aussie tactic to be watchful and see him off. I wouldn’t be writing him off just yet.

Going at 4 an over this innings so not even holding up an end.
I love Jimmy Anderson as much as anyone and just hope he comes back stronger than ever he’s been so good for the last few years.

Think he intends to work on it judging by his interview before play!

Cummins and Khawaja for men of series but Crawley gets it for England imo.
