Had they made those two changes for the last test at Old Trafford we might of been still in with a chance of winning the series.
Only watched last 20 mins and amount of reckless shots from Denly was ridiculous. Always going to be a matter of time if you play shots like that. 27/1
Roots patience not great either, not much devil in the pitch, poor choice by convicts to bowl. Pleasant day though, especially for mid September!
what did I say?! Another 50 for Root but yet again he can't convert. He's nowhere near Smith's class.
Root and Bairstow got out to good bowling. The other five wickets were thrown away with stupid shots. Australia have been on the other side of the world now for the large majority of the year. They won't have seen many friends or loved ones since probably March-April time. They won't have spent a night asleep in their own bed since early Spring. They will be counting down the days to going home for a rest and yet they still have more fight than our players.
Agree with this but the reallity is that all international cricketers basically live out of a suitcase for 8 months of the year .And in comparison footballers don't like away matches period, poor lads.
Technique is lacking as is concentration. Jack Leach is more focused that the majority of the top order.
If Jack Leach had a scoring stroke to go along with his defence he'd be batting at 7. We could do worse than to open with him, he'd last 40 balls and take the shine off.
I love all forms of the game but it is clear the likes of Stokes and Buttler are more at home when playing in limited over style play. I can see why the purists are annoyed. The stamina and required concentration is just not there for us.
