I completely understand the gloomy outlook that some currently have. But I'm convinced having heard LJ that he's the man to take us on. Unfortunately, his boss int one for patience. So I'm in the middle. I completely believed Danny would have got us sorted, in time. It was the first year of at least five for me. I assumed our Barnsley born, Barnsley supporting owner thought the same. This was Danny ******* Wilson. If he was going to break tradition and back someone properly, surely Danny was that man? Turns out he wasn't. So why is LJ? It's that that worries me. We could have (and could have already had....) the best manager around, but without giving them the necessary time we never get to find out. If the success of Hill, Flicker and Mellon since getting booted doesn't get you wondering, then nowt will. Time for Patrick to chill art.
Some things in life are bad They can really make you sad Other things just make you swear and curse When you're chewing on lifes gristle Dont grumble Just whistle.......
Although I agree in principle, I do feel more optimistic about next season than I did at the start of last season. After that magnificent great escape in 2013, it was evident to me that Dave Flitcroft was very naive in the sense that he thought the same group of players could improve on the finish they'd had the previous season. It was clear to most of us that the likes of Marlon Harewood, Kelvin Etuhu and Tom Kennedy had coincided to have their good run of form for the club, at the same time. The season that followed was woeful, I'd not renewed my season ticket due to work commitments, but found myself making other plans even when we were at home. I'd seen us play a couple of times and thought, I can't even begin to attempt to enjoy this. I don't think this season has been quite as bad. We've won games, and even had a little flirt with the playoffs, albeit briefly. I think it's far too soon to judge Lee Johnson, particularly considering he's not been able to bring anyone in really other than Ibhere on loan. Let the man bring his own players in, to complement the decent team Danny Wilson began to assemble, and see how we play then. The sad thing for me is that Lee is getting questioned already, despite losing just 3 of the 13 games he's managed. Danny was given the patience of the fans this time last year, despite making some very fatal errors. I think a lot of people focus too much on reputation. Having said this, Lee did a good job at Oldham, regardless of how his team played. Danny was given more time because of what he once did. Lee should be given more slack because of what he might do.
At this moment in time, yes. But we shouldn't judge Johnson yet. We've got to give him a pre-season and a transfer window before we even begin to see what he's all about. Admittedly, after the initial euphoria, we look like we've gone backwards since we brought him in; we certainly pass the ball backwards a lot more and when we look back on the season it's some of the games before Christmas under Wilson that were the memorable matches, which we haven't got close to since we sacked him. But Johnson seems like a cracking bloke and he certainly talks a good game, so let's not write him off just yet. Season tickets will probably take a bit of hit, but that could be temporary, because if we start doing well, folk will return. I hope we don't have yet another clear out and start again though. With Ryan Williams or John O'Sullivan in the team we look a decent side and play some good football. If we signed them both we could be a real threat in this division. The squad needs a few new editions, players who can run with the ball and take a player on, so all those decent passers in the squad have an outlet. What it doesn't need is dismantling and another dozen players coming through the door who take the best part of a whole season to settle in.
I think I would. We had many on here a year ago looking at relegation as an opportunity to rebuild. I don't have any gripe with Wilson, but he was brought in to keep us in the Championship. LJ is now here to get us out of L1. We have the budget apparently to do it, backing of the board, motivated young manager and the nucleus of a decent squad. I have felt worse at this stage of many more seasons than this one. So I am feeling positive and despite the league position being lowest for years, my confidence is higher than it has been for a long time. I could even start a thread leading with "are we on the cusp of winning something for the first time in 10 years" depending on the glass half full / empty position people decide to take.
..........yes..........in the passed...........(hence the) not bright enough for that But got to admit it - I didn't notice it when I wrote it and have just seen it when reading the post again Which goes to show.......I think about the subject quite a bit before posting - but when it comes to actually putting on here - then I just throw ideas onto the page In other words - I'm not sat in front of the computer contemplating how to Wind some foooker up !!!
