At what age did you pass your driving test? Or why didn't you?

And now you've made me feel old after realising I've been able to drive for more of my life than not :D

Do the intensive courses work then? I've always wondered if they're easier or harder or no real difference

Worked for me. I think it was ideal as I get worried about things when anticipating it so there were less individual lessons for me to worry about.

Ex Test driving instructors in the past newspapers etc have said they have to pass XX amount per month and fail XX amount per month
No idea if this is actually true or not.

i thought my 1st test was flawless and road traffic signs all right, but failed it
2nd test i made that many mistakes i literally gave up and was just driving any old how knowing i had failed
got out of the car and he told me i had passed
i just stood there stunned thinking at any second he was going to burst out laughing

    September 2001, aged 18.

First time - though it was the second test I booked - my first I turned up and my examiner had phoned in sick.

    19. Third Attempt.

I had my first two tests when I was 17, but then I had to take a break. Mainly because my parents had already paid for those two tests, the theory test, and my first 20 lessons, but said I’d have to pay for the rest with my own money.

Some Asian guy in Wales went to prison for that! Although he did do it for about 250 people...

43 and never driven. Had one lesson, hated it. Never wanted to have the lesson in the first place, but didn't like the instructor anyway, otherwise I may have been tempted to carry on.

Couldn't afford to now, but never had the desire at all.

17 and about 6 weeks. Only thing I've ever really wanted was to get my driving licence and it remains the best thing I've ever had.

17 passed first time. Dad taught me but I had a couple of lessons from an instructor before I took the test to make sure I knew how to pass the test

1st time at 17 on 1st April 1966. By that day I had driven 20,000 + miles, because I worked away Monday to Friday and my boss let me drive whilst he slept.
