England played well the last 2 games, but they need to do it when it counts when the T20 World Cup starts next week. I wondered if the Aussies aren't quite playing at full pelt

I think Aus v Eng are possibly best warm up games as they both detest losing to each other. Can't understand why our final warm up is against Pakistan, we've just played them seven times.

Their fielding was sub-standard a lot of the time, with dropped catches and runs gifted to us. It was a good performance from us though apart from Jordan’s wasteful bowling and a few batting failures.

Always entertaining though seeing us beat Australia at anything

I think we've got the best fielding side in the tournament by a long way, whether that's enough to win the world cup is another thing. But beating Pakistan and Australia on their own turf can only breed confidence. We should win it tbf .

pakistan was a very good series on their turf, on aussie soil could be very different
only blip so far is that harry may be playing himself to 12th man, we know the selectors are brutal with him,
but what about that "save" from stokes on the boundary, breath taking fielding
we need to take form into the world cup, but not peak at the start of it, cj was below par after a lay off but he and woods rotating games could be key at the umpires end, think sam curran got himself into the XI

Travesty if Curran gets left out.

I didn’t see it today but did Archer play ?
I read that he’s been given another contract but thought he wasn’t ready

Sorry. I meant Chris Jordan. Getting the two mixed up. I thought he was going to give so many runs away that they would catch us but luckily he didn’t do too much damage

cj is a cracking player on his day, we must give him time in these warm up games to get match fit, otherwise we rely too much on woods/woakes, the older fast/ish bowling needs mixing up

conundrum with stokes, only listened to the game today and comm mentioned about him if he didn't make the t20 then would he return to the 50 over game?
bit unfair seeing the toil on his body wouldn't suit t20 plus test cricket but would 50 over?
he looks war torn every game but someone you'd follow in the trenches
he's in the xi for me regardless due to his ability to adapt and scrap, every team in the world must fear his ability under pressure so must play in the key games,
a true warrior for english cricket

Mainly because of injuries, his bowling has taken a back burner over the last 2/3 yrs but he seems to have become a more important bowler nowadays.
He used to be a bowling all rounder when he started out so he is a very good international fast bowler.
His T20 batting and bowling figures are not brilliant and there are numerous players champing at his ankles but I think he’s got to play just for the reason you’ve stated Korky

36 matches over 11 years and never even had a fifty and only averages 19. I don't think Stokes should be keeping his T20 place just because he's the test captain. He needs runs more than ever now he hardly ever bowls. Until I saw the link I didn't realise how poor he's been in this format over such a long period of time. We always just seem to assume we are stronger with him in the team.

An average of 19 isn’t really bad when you take into account he’s batted at lower down the order and Roy/ Bairstow have got a good start.
Also, he’s a very competent bowler not forgetting his fielding !!!!

Anyway, it’s a great dilemma for the selectors

Biggest concern for me was having to play one less in the circle for the final over due to slow overate, if this happens regularly it will eventually cost us a game.

Buttler has to consider giving up the gloves most likely meaning one of Hales, Malan, Brook or Stokes having to make way for Salt.

    Tough call.

There was too much consultation going on between Buttler, Ali and others. It’s a waste of time if One has to run to the other and back again to discuss field changes and the like.

There’s Livingstone to consider as well cos he gives a bowling option.
Why do you think Buttler has to think about giving up the gloves ?

Selection in the World Cup ain’t going to be easy as we’ve such a good squad but it’s a good situation

I’m sure it will have been mentioned to Buttler
