You really have no idea at all about Luke Steele do you?
Luke will definitely not be eating McD`s ,playing any games system, I can assure you of that. Luke Steele is a person that can walk into any room anywhere and fit straight in, he is a very intelligent man and if he wants to play in Greece, then I am certain he has done his homework on the league, Country and club.
I for one am very sad he is leaving and we will struggle to get another keeper in that is as good. I know there are plenty on here that give him grief, but I think that speaks volumes for their knowledge of the game rather than Steele`s ability.
Oh and I would be worried if I was you, seeing as the only one agreeing with you in this thread is Hemmsy !!!

Good luck to my good friend @lukeysteele1. Shared many good memories with this guy and now I've gained a free holiday home in Greece :)

Go on then. Tell me what's better about playing in the Greek league than playing in England.

Come on stop being churlish it's a big step forwards for him. Playing in the Champions League alone. Be great to tell your kids that wouldn't it rather than I played against Colchester on a

Course I don't. Wouldn't even pretend to. I've got a good idea what 90% of English footballers are like and maybe he is in a small minority. He may spend his day off searching for the remains of the Colossus Of Rhodes, eating taramasalata or reading The Iliad and sipping ouzo. Doesn't change my opinion that England is a better place to play football than Greece.

They're not in the champion's league. Besides, he's already won at Anfield, knocked Chelsea out of the FA Cup quarter final and played in front of 83,000 at Wembley. Nowt in Greece will come close to that.

Yes but he's not likely to do any of those things playing for us in Division 3 is he now more like 3, 000 away to Crawley. And when I was telling my kids I don't think I'd be getting into technicalities I'd just be saying I played in the Champions League. Saying nowt will come close. What if they qualify and get drawn against Barca. Who knows what will happen? A night game in Rochdale or the Bernabeu what's better?

Which is it - Barca or Real?

Anyway, as I pointed out to Plankton Pete, they are not in the Champion's League. They are in the third qualifying round and have to beat two teams to get there. What if they get knocked out by BATE Borisov?

Could be either. Could be the important word.

What if is the important thing there.

Yes but he now has the chance rather than no chance staying with us. It's not like we can stay stay with Barnsley we can offer you a similar possibility. I know if I were him it would've taken me about 10 seconds to make up my mind.

No offence lads but you're both talking *****.

Greek league ain't nothing like the Welsh. If you've watched any champions league football over the past 20 years you'll see that the Greek's have always been represented in the group stage via either Olympiakos or Panathinaikos & they've sometimes had 2 teams in it with AEK having a couple of seasons in it.

None of them have been whipping boys either

Errrmmm.....I was sort of exaggerating to make a point. However, you shouldn't judge a league based on the standard of a couple of elite clubs who are very much atypical of the standard of the league.

As for none of them ever being whipping boys:-

No offence but the evidence suggests you're talking *****.

You really should try it before judging it so negatively, it really is a beautiful country and in my experience the Greek people are very friendly and welcoming.

It is Mario. No disputing that. Dunt change the fact that the league int a patch on ours. That's not even open for debate.

I bet some parts of Athens or Salonika are not as smart as they were before 2009 though.

    Cheers for proving my point.

As it shows none of them have ever lost all 6 games, none have had an awful goal difference & they're represented in the competition every year.

Obviously they aren't likely to finish above the pot 1 & 2 seeds but they're clearly competitive each year.

Pretty impressive that a club with the budget of AEK Athens can play 4 games (2 each) against Roma & Real Madrid & not lose any

The league may be weaker than ours but he is joining a team that could play champions league football so I can understand the attraction to him. I wasn't trying to put a positive spin on his move, I am gutted that he's leaving, I was responding to Phil saying it was a country he wouldn't go to.
