It makes complete and total sense to renew his contract then try and sell him. Not sure what’s confusing you about this?..
They keep emphasizing "we need the fans with us".... Cos if the fans turn, then the jig is up. The Plan, signings and playing the kids collapses.. Simply as, their treading a very thin line, hoping this lot can pull it round. Can't afford to keep being ***** especially at home or all will come crashing down.. Going to be a big test in the next few months to turn it around
What would definitely make more sense is not selling our centre back pairing and top scorer Is it any wonder that Moore wanted to leave when he saw a massive hole develop in what was the best defence in the football league Moronic.
One of the comments I don't really understand is, we were willing to break our transfer record and sat down with a few players but when it came to it there wage demands were too high and wouldn’t fit our structure.......how much do/did they think a player being signed for over £1.5 million would command? Did/do they think an agent brokering a deal for a £1.5m+ Valued player is going to take league 1 wages? BTW I’m not bothered about us breaking our transfer record, there’s plenty of expensive players who are not worth it and Hourihane/Winnall were not transfer records. It’s just rings a little strange.
“Our budget is lower third division” !! Are they going to change season ticket and admission prices to reflect that “Our owners would never let what is happening to Bury and Bolton happen to Barnsley” Very interesting thing to say as “our owners” took out a loan at OCG Nice for 20 million costing 30 million to pay back over 3 years and which cannot be paid back early leaving the club in debt for many years to come Which they tried to hide in the accounts but a journalist noticed the anomaly and investigated it. They did this Because they “Needed” there money back they bought the club for. One of the bizarre terms of the loan was if the dropped to 14 place the full amount had to be payed back in a week as the loan was based on there TV money and dropping out of the league would mean losing the TV money . At one stage they were in 12th position if a couple of results had gone the wrong way the loan would have been called in and the club would have gone bankrupt as there was no money in the coffers to pay the loan. The owners then went about selling 30 million worth of players ripping the squad apart to cover the loan.
I'm thinking we should sign up loads of players out of contract, just like Cavare was, none of whom we have any intention of playing, and make a killing on selling them. Sounds like a plan.
It is weird. I'm not one of these doom mongers, who pull the club down on a daily basis, but, some of the answers given tonight are truly head scratching. What you say backs that up. Right, let's sign a player for two million. But no, let's not pay him the going rate. Surely one goes hand in hand with the other.
Because they are hype men that will say whatever it takes to keep folk from asking difficult questions (or having to answer them). Wouldn't be surprised to hear them talking about painting cardboard buses if asked a tricky question.
It gets better... If they wanted to keep him surely they'd want the offer to not be there next time they look.
