I'm sorry but that comment is quite ridiculous. No denying he played well yesterday but he has been anonymous in a lot of games prior to this one. In my (minority) opinion of course.
Cracking result... and I'm buzzing from it... But it was a very frustrating game! Winnall, Ramage, Naytanga, Berry, Cole, Bree and Turnbull were stand out performers. Good to see composure at the back, and Turnbull commanding his area. Forwards worked tirelessly but IMHO the midfield got away with it. Don't want to harp on after such a good result, but first half midfield were all over the place. None of them held their position and went looking for the ball. Like a bunch of headless chickens. As a result forwards had no service and had to track back to get posession. Much better second half. But old head in holding role e.g. Hassell, would have held firm. Three men pressing, with anchor man to hold and create. As for Bailey. I have no doubt he will come good but right now IMHO he, Lita, Jennings and Treacy need to get fit and sharpen up. But well done, good team performance second half! a little more composure and better decision making and we could have had hat full! Agree with DW comments in interview with Radio dee dar, two players would compliment and complete squad 'midfielder' with bite, and 'physical' forward to hold up play
Just watched the game again on Player, and strangely, Bailey hardly has a kick. It didn't seem that way on first viewing. He was still decent, but the stand out player on this second viewing was either Hourihane or Winnall. Hourihane's passing was bang on throughout. And our full backs were quality, especially second half. Bailey does ping one pass from distance though, like Gerrard in his pomp.
When we win we can't just take it as a win and remark upon certain players playing well. Or a shape working well. Or the other side having weaknesses of their own. When we lose we can't just point out that certain players played poorly or struggled against a better team or whatever. We have to shower praise and assert our superiority to the heavens (e.g. Bailey out of nowhere now being not far off the new Messi-ah) and spout mass hyperbole after a victory. Whilst the week before we no doubt had the Isis brigade out demanding Danny be beheaded cos we conceded 3 or 5 at home. We are half way up the league after 11 games. Fair enough. We all want to live in hope. And there was some yesterday.
Apologies fella, weren`t sure whether it was meant as humour or insult as usual in a two horse race I backed the donkey.
