The Barnsley way, don't sign wide players, sign a zillion central midfielders then make them wingers. Same applies to strikers it seems.
No sad loss. He was dross, and I will never forget his pathetic display against Donny at home. Toss. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wow this is a surprise. We all knew he was not going to feature so could have been done weeks ago Good luck to him
The only thing I remember is the awful hairstyles and tattoos he possessed! Can't remember anything of a footballing nature that stood out.
Speaks volumes that no club has shown any interest in him. Poor player. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Plenty interested, but only as a free agent. Same thing happened with Jennings, Turnbull and Lalkovic. Once you make it known that certain players are unwanted or available, you lose any value really, especially at this level. All had a year left to run on their contract, none were in LJ's plans. Makes sense then to allow them to leave in as best way possible for us financially, for the player and his next club. Can't say I'm happy that we're releasing lads or giving them away so quickly after recruiting em, but when you change manager so often, this will happen.
There were number of posts only a couple of weeks ago saying the same about Cranie. The lad that has just signed for a Championship club.
Shame, I rated him and thought that played in the right position he had something to offer at our level.
Sign a good footballer, freeze him out, replace him with ***** and then pay up his contract. Hope he's screwed as much as he can out of Cryne. Oops, nearly forgot, then sack the manager that froze him out 4 months after.
I'm disappointed we've let Luke go. What if next year he's top of assists in league 2 and got 5-6 goals to his name? He'll be coming up top in the stats and given our recruitment policy a player we should be going for. LJ and Ben will be scratching their heads then. He should have been loaned out for 6 month ready to step in when Pearson gets a Championship move in January. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
I have to agree with a number of the earlier comments, this player turnover is symptomatic of the manager turnover. Every time we change manager they want to bring in their own players and get rid of players that aren't part of their set up. Whilst we persist in changing manager at the drop of a hat, the turnover of players and the associated costs will be a feature we will see year in year out. I'm not sure that Bailey was standout amongst the squad but equally the names we have been linked with, given our budget, are hardly headline news. When you add in Luke Berry, a player who 12 months ago we were delighted to sign, you have to question the economics of the decision making. Good luck to Bailey, our spreadsheet might not realise just how good he is.
I am still baffled by the decision to let Berry go - I saw enough of him last season to hope that given a proper run this season, he could be a valuable player. Very strange for me. Bailey, again, a shame in my book as he was a very good footballer - didn't do much in all honesty, but kept things neat and tidy and was pretty solid. If Johnson thinks that Pearson and Scowen can do a better job for less money, then I'll back him on that.
Didn't do owt though did he really? Didn't contribute with goals or assists, which is what is required from a midfielder.
Always good to replace a permanent player (Bailey) with a six-month loanee (Pearson). It's harking back to the days when Mark Robins has a squad of about 4 players when the loans were sent back.
