Put it this way... could Vaughan have directed it any better? If he could, why didn't he? He had a whole top corner to aim for, whilst under pressure from a defender. Vaughan had no idea where the ball was going, just did well to get to it. Tho if it's a "chance" do I take it you blame him for missing it then???
the crowd on one side went into "hero" mode once... as Shuker got a cross in from the corner flag. They failed to notice that other Reds players were in and around 6 yard box and not next to the keeper on the front post. Where the ball went. He just can't cross a ball. Or put enough boot into it when need be. He again wasted umpteen chances to cross. Tho you'd have laughed your back off at his open goal. Or shouted "you f***ing f**ing little useless f***ing ba5tard, F*** off out of my f***ing team". Of course, I'd have shouted even worse, but there were quite a few of Shuker's neanderthal brigade in front of me. As it was, they must have been deaf as well. ***sorry, it's poor to criticise your own players, but at least I wasn't screaming at every and any one else APART from Shuker, like too many others were. But it WAS an open goal. Far worse than owt Austin's perceived to have done.*** If someone wishes to do a "Del Monte Watch" this season, feel free to include # times I say "He really is s***" in ref to the dwarf fella. But he really is s***. He is.
I know you're disappointed. So am I. But to call yours a balanced assessment is pushing it a bit. In my view, we were excellent 2nd half. The main disappointment for me was Hayes who, in my view, let the crowd get to him. One thing's for certain, last night's opponents won't be able to ride their luck like that all season.
I said balanced because I could have been openly critical of certain players and overlook the weaknesses of others. I think McPhail's a good player, but he didnt do enough for me last night. I dont particularly think Kay is our best centre half, but he's better than Carbon and Vaughan, so some credit due. I also said we had loads of possession, but didnt make it count. very much like last season. fairly balanced, for me. I was also trying to balance out the view that we're going to run away with the league after beating Swindon 2 nil at home. last night, imho, wasnt a blip. it was a continuation of what we saw last year.
So chances are those which Barnsley players miss or could have done better with. So a thirty five yard volley which the goalie just gets his finger tips to is not worth a mention as it wasn't a chance, but a fluffed shot inside the area is? It's about entertainment. Created opportunities. I really don't understand why you apparently don't value Vaughans effort. I'd rather pay to watch a game without any chances then!
This is what I said ... ''In summary: GK - Not got an established keeper. DF - No left back & a bunch of Spackers in the middle. MF - Still can't see a system that would work ... and no cover. CF - None of them have ever scored plentifully in this division. Basically I think we are going to struggle badly. To get out of this division you need one of two things - (1) a well organised team of battlers with a good defence or (2) a team who have proven strikers who will fire you out of trouble. Last season Wednesday were the battlers & Luton were the scorers. We are neither. As I've said - I know **** all about footy - and I honestly hope that a miracle happens & this bunch of lads all of a sudden become something they have never been before & march us to promotion. I can't see it. Bottom 4 finish - if we are lucky.'' Nothing I saw on Saturday changed my mind. I was not there last night ... so I will not base what I think on the opinons of others - but things are not looking good.
RE: I said balanced So after one defeat it is a continuation? I understand what you are trying to say but at least we were not shocking like Donny away, and Wendy away last season and that in part we played well! If we play like we did 2nd half we'll win more than we lose easily ;o)
Keeping it football related.... I think Hayes will score more than Chopra. Nardiello wont score 20 goals. Colgan will concede 20. Carbon wont play 5 full games. Ritchie's on a one year contract. no make that 2.
RE: The reason it's not a CHANCE... Surely the Mendez one was more a speculative effort rather than a "chance", being that it was from the halfway line.
Depends. Hayes is a form player. If he keeps knocking them in & feels loved - then he will get more than Chopra did. However - if his form dips & people get on his back - then expect very lean times. I'd also like to point out that Hayes & Chopra would be a decent combo. If Carbon & Nardy get 30 games in between them I will be shocked. Colgan's nose is 20cm long. Which is 3cm longer than Shukers legs. If we bought a new keeper, a left back, 2 centre halves, a combative midfielder, a right winger & a striker with genuine pace ... then we've got a pretty decent team. Let's talk togger.
Colgan reminds me of a lion the lion in the Wizard of Oz. cleaning his permanently skidded shorts, there's where my 150 quids gone, betchya. lets have a game: Find the Carbon. I'll go first: Silkstone golf course. am I right?
"(apologies, Pontyenders able to read) " cheeky ****! We lose so now you start abusing our own fans! Nice! (clap) Well done.
Obviously...it's only people who sit in the East Stand, and then usually the Upper Tier that see Shuker for what he is
RE: Im never a fan of playing players out of position why didnt he play colgan tonge kay austin carbon shukes burns wroe mcphail nads hayes (battered)
