Ball boys

Was it that you thought Trevor was wrong and so any criticism of the ball boys was out of order?
Or that you agreed with Trevor but thought it would be wrong for anyone to mention how lazy they were because we won and that means we turn a blind eye to other things?

 

I just don't get myself into a tizzy over such things.
I've read the forum for long enough to know that you my dear, you do. About anything.
We're all unique and therefore I say each to their own. But me personally I have real issues.
Why don't you take your hysterical complaint to the football club instead of mithering on here.

 

So was that a yes or no to you agreeing with dear old Trevor who thought they were lazy?

 

Tricky, as I call him, he found it comical as did I when the rather rotund gentleman stewarding went to retrieve a ball. But a few around us were spitting out expletives regarding the ballboys and what not. Hence the reference when I asked aloud what the fans on here have to moan about.
It's all good fun. I've said already, I have far more pressing issues in my life than incidents like that. I'm happy for Trevor that he won bbs bingo this afternoon and with that, may I wish you a splendid weekend because I must now retire to Bedfordshire.

Is everyone forgetting the pre-season interview with the players?

A few of the players said that the ball boys had a part to play in player recovery. Stendel accepted that the pressing game was hard work and tiring, so at the correct times, they (the ball boys) had been ordered to slow-down play to allow our players an extra few secs of recovery.

I know they are slow and have been for years - but this year maybe more so on purpose following instructions.

 

I do think that’s a fair point. You do need breaks from the pressing game. However, I’m not sure their laziness is by design.

I don’t remember them being any quicker when we were losing to Rochdale and needed to keep the momentum up.

That said, it’s the hoardings in front of the East Stand that slow the game down as much as anything.

 

But did Stendle mean to do nothing and for the players to have to retrieve the balls.?

 

I think criticism could be seen as harsh if you could see the difference between when we are winning/drawing or losing.

So if we could see them slow right down when winning or hanging on in a game it would make sense, but it appears to be the same level of lack of interest regardless of the score.

I remember when we went to Wembley for the spurs cup game, the ball boys there were keen as mustard, actually anticipating the ball going out and sprinting to retrieve it. I probably only noticed this because of the experience of ours been completely opposite.

Maybe they have been told to be slow for the recovery issues mentioned, but you’d still think they’d make the effort to get up and go for the ball rather than wait for a fan or steward to jump over the fence to get it.

The problem with that is you say at times. Those times appear to be every moment between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59

 

Oh, I know they’re slow/lazy and have been for years. But the players mentioned that it was part of Stendel’s plan, which makes complete sense.

But like most say, there are times when you need it back quickly, so I’ve no idea what remit the ball boys have. Perhaps they’ve been told to be slow and if the players want the ball quickly, they’ll get it themselves?

 

Either that or the media teams 301st alias on here...
