Yes, just to add to the others above, I can only wish him well in his future career. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he took something unwittingly. It looks like he was a good influence around the club, despite not playing. I would have thought if it were really serious the club would have sent him home on day one and told him not to come back until invited.
Joking aside, it's a disappointing ending. I had hopes of seeing him develop alongside Mads and was looking forward to us having a pair of strong, young centrebacks. I hope things turn out ok for him down the line.
If anyone wants to know the full detail - it’s at the bottom of this link as a PDF file. Essentially, Bambo says he thinks it could be Strepsils for a sore throat. It is possible it could have been that, but not enough evidence to support that was submitted. The FA accept it wasn’t intentional, but not enough evidence has been given to suggest what it was. Hence the 2 year ban until January 2022. He’s now back in Spain.
Good statement from the club and from Bambo himself. If he’s back from January 2022, does anyone think we could see a return then?
It's a shame, under Struber he could o played as goalkeeper, central midfield, striker, there's lots o different places he could have played him out of position....
2 year ban, but surely he's already served a year by being delayed this long, if he was on remand that remand time would be deducted from his sentence? So because the authorities have taken this long to come to a decision it will be 3 years out of the game for him. I'm all for punishment for breaking the rules but it seems a bit unfair on him.
Thanks for digging this out and posting. A harsh decision for an unintentional act. In my opinion. M'lud.
Well you dont know very much then - its very easy to do - in fact I bet you have taken some without knowing it with over the counter medications Dont know if you remember Alan Baxter lost an olympic medal because an inhaler he used with no problems in the UK had a slightly different formulation if you bought it in Canada and had an IOC banned substance in it - ironically not at all performance enhancing. Certain that Bambo has made an innocent error - as others have said probably in a supplement feel quite sorry for him - hope he can start again in January 2022
I would have thought any over the counter medication we would have to run by club doctors first to see if it's safe to take, rather than just taking it, just to be on the safe side.
