why would the odds obviously be fixed, maybe the guy went up to the till and said I'll have 3 quid on blah blah blah, they laid the bet.

If the bet was before the game, how can the odds be anything other than fixed on those two happening - because they're related.

Once Hume had scored the bet was couldn't be made anyway.

I think I'll give it up now, I think we're probably all right but are 'arguing' different things.

Gambling is class!!

The only problem is I never bloody win. Went to the races the other day asked how much is was entrance fee was ($25) and then how many races (8) so I handed over $185 to save me time from gambling it haha

I know where you're coming from but so do the bookies. That's why they factor in Hume scoring into the true odds or they'd lose money from these bets which is why they won't take them unless pre quoted as a double. See my Rooney example. You can't back Rooney to score 1st and England to win and expect 7/5 x 11/2 and want 14/1, you'd have to take their 17/2 before they game.

He's saying that double would be 14/1 if you were allowed to combine the individual odds, but the bookies adjust it and you get much lower odds than that, for the reasons mentioned.

Think i follow what you are saying. You can't double on related bets. Betting on goalscorer and a certain result would be like betting a double of no goalscorer and a draw (why not add 0-0 as well) which you clearly cannot do.
