a draw shouldnt be enough to keep him in the job to be honest in fact a win shouldn't unless there is a significant improvement in the performance and it is clear that simon davey had something to do with it.
I think our foreigners need a real gee up for this one
Super Tyke is right, we can't risk one of them not realising the significance of this game, either to the fans of BFC or teh manager's job prospects.
If Davey thinks that a game against Sheffield Wednesday, who are in the playoffs, is enough motivation then he's in for a shock.
Although to be fair I think this is justa quote taken in isolation- I'd be absolutely shocked if Davey thought he didn't have a motivational role to play tonight. Well, I'd be abit shocked based on some of our recent unpassionate and lethargic displays.
Davey's record in derbies is as bad as Ritchies. We've one one, thats it. Tonight could be the game thats saves his job, one good performance and he'll buy himself perhaps as long as the seasons end to get it right. Defeat, and its curtains, sooner rather than later if not immediately.

I think we'd be in even more trouble if we sacked Davey Would his coaching staff go with him or would one of them be put in temporary charge? If not, would Ronnie Branson move up to the first team? Then we'd have to advertise the position, interview applicants and to be honest there's not a lot of talent out there. We could be in a real mess before we employ a manager who may not be up for the task. I believe our best chance of survival is if Simon Davey turns it round. Despite all the statistics he's kept us in this division twice. That is a fact. Trouble is, I'm not confident of him doing it again. I think we're ****** all ends up.
I wonder if 'Feelers' have already been sent out to see if potential targets would be interested (ala Paul Hart in 2004)?
Maybe so But the club is being run without a chairman, with an admin bloke as a token director to stay within the rules and with our only other director a paid employee of the FA who must dedicate a lot of his time to that organisation. Our owner has always stated he doesn't know anything about running a football club and doesn't want to do it anyway. Who would be putting those feelers out?
I tend to agree, appointing a new manager does not guarantee immediate improvement. If the new manager did not manage to stave off relegation, which is a distinct possibility, then a majority of fans would be baying for another sacking at or even before the end of the season.
Do you think Liverpools foreigeners didn't realise it was a derby against Everton? They're foreign not thick.
Cryne has his own contacts I seem to remember his friend Alex Ferguson sorting out the initial loan transfer of Daniel Nardiello. It would be highly unlikely that, even with our present set up, the likes of messrs Cryne, Rowing & Taylor are 'innocents abroad' in the football industry. None of us may know who would be be delegated with the aforementioned duties, but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't, or couldn't, be done. All this is pure speculation on my part and should not be taken as fact.
RE: Cryne has his own contacts I`m sure Patrick would have learnt some of the ins and outs of a chairman`s lot at the same time as Shep.
I think so, too I suppose everything depends on how much faith Mr Cryne has in Simon Davey to get us out of our present position, both in the long and short term. For the moment, Mr Davey appears to be safe.
And the only way to alleviate that pressure Is for Barnsley to start winning matches and not just once every blue moon, either.
RE: And the only way to alleviate that pressure True. A win tonight would be fantastic and ease the pressure, however, a good shafting played with a bit of style is what is required for everyone with a stake in BFC.
Another performance like Saturday and he has to fûçking go. For me, he ought to have got Cryne's toe up his årše when Cardiff beat us the other week without breaking sweat. (I would never want us to lose to get rid of a manager, unless that manager is Spackman.)
They didnt show much passion or pride in the shirt when they were on TV and the whole world could see them . . Cant see tonight being much different
