Not one average of over 100 in any game at any point of the tournament so far. That's why the games are closer, the poor standard.

The other difference is Olly Croft. Stuck in the dark ages and can't get himself out.
I played in loads of BDO competitions a few years ago. After playing John boy Walton I asked if he'd move across, he said never because he wasn't sure he could compete.

That's the beauty of the BDO because it's so unpredictable and names you have never heard of can win it from nowhere. Also the guy he beat won the first four of his five sets 3 legs to 2 so it was alot closer than the final score suggested.

Scott Mitchell played very well with six three dart checkouts between 121 and 142, two of them being 142 and multiple bull finishes. He could be a new name on the trophy sunday night.

Barry Hearn in the sun today has written. There have been 20 100+ averages in 38 years of the BDO, There were 19 in the PDC World Championships that has just finished, sums it up really.

Might buy a Sun to read it as I don't fancy subscribing to their website. If the BDO was so bad he'd have not tried buying it a few years ago, continue to try and poach their best players and try as hard as he has to get Martin Adams to defect over the years. The BDO have proper darts fans more interested in watching the action and they have a terrestrial TV deal so anybody can watch the coverage. Be nice if ITV4 took a few more tournaments off Sky Sports like they did with the UK Open. Harrington/Part are good pundits but guys like Bristow and especially Mardle with his stupid comments like "he really wants to win this match" I can do without. Sid Waddell was annoying too for liking the sound of his own voice and coming out with pre planned stupid catchphrases.

Itv4 have the new comp this year, I agree about fans but the organisation it terrible it's set in the past they could have about 6/8 TV majors now they have BT Sport Eurosport & BBC a on board but they refuse to move forward why haven't BDO got a premier league darts by now ? They could use sports halls like metrodome Donny dome and such like on a Sunday afternoon in football close season may June July but they've stud still so long they don't want to move forward with the times

They tried to launch a PL style event last year and even got as far as announcing, I think it was 11, host towns and cities, plus 8 "back ups", for the summer of 2014 (dates were never confirmed). Never got as far as announcing any actual venues but then it disappeared in a puff of smoke.

I reckon Barry Hearn has just about creamed off all the talen he wants now with Bunting being the cherry on the cake but if any more of the top players want to come over, like Robbie Green this year for example, he's not going to turn them away but they'll have to earn their Tour Card like everyone else. There are rumours within the darts fraternity that htere could be a mass entry for Q-school this January but we'll wait and see.

The BDO generally quote "1st 9 dart" & overall averages (if they're any good!) Got to say though, the standard has been generally poor this year from what I've seen.

They asked Adams once he turned it down because he's England captain and if he moves over he can't play for his country in their events. He wouldn't win a tournament anyway. Oh and it used to be the BBC asking if he was moving all the time, because they' knew he was never going to leave and therefore it looked good for the BDO that he was staying.

its all relative really, just because your not seeing 100+ averages all the time, it doesn,t mean you can,t have a good close game, it,s like saying I,m not watching football if its not in the premiere league as all the lower leagues are s**t..

Don't disagree with that. If both players are performing at a similar standard it doesn't matter if it's dart, football or tiddlywinks!

I met Dean Winstanley in a pub a couple of years back and he told me Adams would never leave as the BDO pay him a hefty retainer to keep him as their "jewel in the crown" so to speak.
