Fair point, you can't really explain it, it does show that you can't guarentee success, many people would have expected Swansea to have been in one of the top two last season with the amount of money that they spent although 300k on Fallon and 100k( i believe) on williams doesn't set the division( let alone the world) alight. You sign players who don't prove to be worthy of a good division you can't moan if they don't produce to your expectations. It takes a good manager to be able to sign consistently good players from lower divisions, as i mentioned earlier, who would want to have signed Cureton after his spell at QPR, he is now one of the top scorers in the Championship, and cost Colchester next to nothing, they took the gamble and it looks as if it has paid off, we seem to be intent on signing "promising" players from lower divisions or young players on loan from Premiership clubs, no natural leadership abilities although potentially good players, only time will tel, do Barnsley have the time for these players to shine?

Iv'e been to every home game this season Jimmy , iv'e never booed, but on saturday i walked out after they scored the third goal. Something i have never done before. That says it all to me. The team selection was a farse, we should be playing the strongest team, yesterday he didn't pick that team. Iv'e backed Davey, he wasn't my choice but iv'e backed him, but the players he as brought in and put them in a boiling survival atmosphere to prove himself right on how he can buy players that are much better than the old firm as simply not worked. It's frustration by the fans, on the fooking dross that is served up week in week out. I'll say it again pick your best and strongest team available Mr Davey , and if that means swallowing your pride then so be it. If he picks the strongest team and they spill blood for the cause and still lose then they would be no booing. (doh)

Dwaine Mattis not a patch on Togwell. Get league 2 players that's where you'll end up !!!

Who thinks AR was right in saying he would only sign players who are better than his existing squad ?

Comparing Colchester to Barnsley.............no

One major difference
Colchester were good last season.........................Barnsley were lucky
We came into the Championship with a poor squad...........they came into the Championship with a half decent squad
We should have brought in players to see us through the first season in this league
We didn't
It was obvious that we needed two experienced centre halves and two experienced strikers
Players of the 33+ year old bracket that would have cost high wages but not cost owt in transfer fees
But we didn't get them.........we got young untried players or cheap foreign players instead

We can't do the Championship on the cheap, no one can do the Championship without a decent squad, in time, throughout a season a weak squad will show those weaknesses
This shows that the directors have not got the money to sustain Barnsley FC in the Championship
At the moment, at best, we are an average 1st division side
I, along with the players, realise we are bound for the 1st division

With the element of luck came...

The element of being a good side.

And being a good side I mean the following:

We had the potential to play good football i.e. Oldham away 3-0.
If we needed to scrap we'd scrap i.e. hartlepool away 1-1
We were a team who stuck by one another
We got the rub of the green on many occasions I'll agree
And at Cardif...how Swansea missed their chances who knows! But when it came to penalties there was only one winner... Barnsley Football Club.
