We were relegated almost 3 weeks ago. The fact that we haven’t had a statement of any kind since then speaks volumes of Khaled & co’s thoughts about the fans and the future of our club.
This is when the club are supposedly trying to push season ticket sales. Who’s this Communications Director? What exactly is he doing to earn his salary?
None of them seem to care a jot and it stinks.

I agree with the plan but it’s the recruitment that’s not worked ! How’s that work then ? The plan does not work full stop . Never as, never will !

I watched it last night and appreciated it (except the bit where you said you didn’t want to talk about the BBS:)). I think the problem people have with the CEO listening, or not, is that few believe he has the power to do anything; which breeds cynicism. But I’m not really sure what else you can be expected to do.

I think more people would be inclined to join the Trust if they started to be a bit more hostile (for want of a better word) towards the CEO and ownership.
Khaled seems to be getting the benefit of the doubt at the moment and subsequently an easy ride. Surely that has to change if the wall of silence continues?

In the 4 past week or so I've seen 2 videos discussing events at Oakwell and the way forward.
One was a foul mouthed tirade against the club and everything red and white. The man who delivered his hate speech complained when he was called out by some for misleading the public regarding his claim there were people behind the scenes waiting to step in when as far as I can see isn't true.
The other was an interview done very articulately discussing the questions put to the club and further plans put forward to find the stance of BFC which also includes questions from all supporters who can be bothered.
The angry man from last week got lots of praise for his "passion" while the recent interviewe is scorned at.
On what I've seen and heard I'm team Ben all the way.I've always found people who shout and bawl tend to be out of contol somewhat.I prefer the Supporters Trust method all the way.

I tend to agree but we need to start somewhere. Once a group has strength of numbers it can change approach if needed and has the credibility to act. At the moment we can't get past square one. As long as that remains the case Khaled and Conway are laughing

I couldn't watch the other video you highlighted because of the reasons you highlighted. And the same was true for many others who stated as much in the thread on here. Go back and have a look, many thought the same as you and I.

I fully get your point, I agree it's no good being abusive or ranting for the sake of it. However, do you not think that the current softly softly approach isn't working?
Why won't either Khaled or the Comms Director (what a joke) address the fanbase as a whole, isn't that part of their job, what they actually get paid to do?
    They couldn't care less.

Hard to resist when you've got some inaccuracies being levelled at you or people asking questions. Should know better really and just check out for the day.

    You shouldn't step back, Ben.
Some people are of the opinion, myself included, that you're isolating Conway to an extent and giving the rest, Khaled included, an easier ride.
That said you're the one that's giving your free time, the one who represents the only credible platform to challenge the club and the only body that currently seems to have ANY chance of getting the barest response from them.
Short of anyone starting a mass supported fan group from the ground up, and I can't see that happening, then the Trust is currently our best hope.
And Khaled, if you're reading this in your office, get a grip of your job, show some response, tell us what the plan is, show some remorse for the ridiculous relegation not on the radar type comments and improve the atmosphere.
Oh, and still for Khaled, why exactly were the club looking at ground sharing? Utterly unforgivable.

Can I ask you to define 'softly softly'?

Here's two headlines from the Chronicle this season using statements from the Supporters' Trust. The top one is supported with “As a paid director of Barnsley Football Club, and as someone who has taken a salary as acting CEO, why does Paul Conway refuse to speak to supporters? Given that supporters have backed the club in it’s hour of need during a pandemic, financially, why are the supporters being treated with such a high level of disrespect and disregard after one of the worst seasons in our history? Especially as that season started with Paul Conway as CEO. We deserve much, much better.

Supporters' Trust launch survey and accuse Reds owners of ‘high level of disrespect’

Fan fury after Reds 'forget their values of respect' with West Stand closure

Softly softly to me would be 'Chin up lads. We're lucky to have a club. Look at Bolton, Derby, Bury. Keep on supporting, renew your season ticket to cheer the boys on in League One, and let's hope the owners share with us some plans for the future. We'll ask for you'.

That doesn't mean the Trust response has to be seen as positive, each to their own there, but given we're banging the same drum around communication, trying to break down barriers, open channels up, etc. it just isn't fair to make something sound different to what it is just because you'd do it differently. Not all supporters want protests, pitchforks and lanterns. But they almost universally want answers and communication.

On your first point we've asked this question almost identically to how you've phrased it here. We've actually done that. On your second point, we've put that to the CEO before and he's answered it before. Whether you like the answer is up for debate, but he did answer it.

Is that the ground share point? What was the response?

He's stated multiple times there are no plans to move from Oakwell and nobody wants to move from Oakwell. I'm paraphrasing as this was done months ago, but I think he said he's speaking to the council, planning for a lease renewal, and it was just one of the owners exploring Plan B'.

Personally still don't like that we approached anyone officially, but that answer has been out there a while on both the January Q&A or a Fans Forum (I think)

    I'll paraphrase from memory...

We arent looking to move away we want to stay here at oakwell.

However some things we want changing and as we don't own the ground we can't

But trying to be responsible if we end up in a position which can't be resolved and we cannot put in place the infrastructure we wish to we are sounding out other clubs as a back up.....

    That about right?

And that's being kind. But more or less what I read I to the official "line" from the club, and the lease is good for a while yet so....
