    Yeah, we used to keep it separate and accounted for before marriage, then we started to relax it a bit and now it’s just whoever can be bothered to get their card out first who pays. It makes no real difference.

    Yeah I agree. I did that until we separated and ultimately divorced. And I never understood anyone who didn't pool resources.

    I'm now on the other side of the fence again. So its been interesting, I'll leave it at that, cos I'm finding its not so much equal again

    That can only work amicably in my eyes with joint accounts. Eg current and saver. I know separate accounts work well for some, but doesn't feel right for me.
    We have other accounts eg ISA's to take advantage of tax relief. But still class em as joint savings.
