Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled Can you just buy a whole hamlet? I would have thought you'd have to buy each individual property. Sounds stressful rather than relaxing
Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled Small village would be better, am sure now that £40 is nowt to a man of thy substance.
Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled When we were having trouble with our solar panels, the loan company (Creation Finance, don't touch them with a shitty stick) set up a direct debit on our bank account after we had cancelled the loan. I knew they'd do it, so I was checking the account every day and cancelled the direct debit instruction before they took any money out. We then phoned the bank asking them to prevent the company from setting up a further direct debit. Apparently, a bank can't do this, which is a serious security flaw in the banking system as far as I'm concerned. If a company has your bank details they can set up a direct debit whenever they like. It's still fraud of course, but there's nothing to stop them dong it. However, the bank said that because we had cancelled the direct debit, the bank would have no problem recouping the money if the company should try the same again. By cancelling it, we had demonstrated we didn't want it paying. If I were you, I wouldn't bother arguing with the company that has taken your money. I'd just phone the bank who will work for you.
Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled I agree that's a serious flaw and despite my advancing age and experience I never realised that's the way the direct system worked. To be fair to Barnsley Player, they've already responded and apologised, and promised a refund, although apparently I now have to wait about 15 days for this. On the positive side, because I thought I'd cancelled, I didn't bother trying to listen to the match yesterday, even though unknown to me my subscription was still active. Apparently I didn't miss much!
Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled I think I'll go for Dodworth. Wonder how much it would be...........
Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled It'll present you with the opportunity, old mate, to evict the old, cantankerous undesirables, so I'm in BIG trouble!
Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled No way I would evict you, I'd just put the rent up. Happiness, is a cigar called Hamlet...
Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled Stahlrost - this happened to me last season. My old subscription expired and I cancelled my direct debit, but Barnsley Player just took the money out of my account without my permission - just like your car insurance company can do!!! Tbf, I got my money back pretty quickly, but it's the principle!
Re: Barnsley Player Not Cancelled I think it's scandalous that they can do that without advance notice so you have a chance to negotiate. We all know about the Direct Debit Guarantee scheme, where the bank will refund you, but why should we have that level of hassle? Live and learn.
