If I lived in London, or Hamburg, or wherever

Barnsley would be my team FFS! What are you on about?

Hope you have a good trip mate, Gatehouse, Metrodome both fine, along with plenty of others, White Bear is a nice pub opposite Town Hall but not a football pub, bit poncy, like all you LAANDENERs!

I went to The Valley many times when I lived in Darn Sarf, great set of fans and always made us feel welcome in the pub befeorehand and after, whatever the result. We used to go in the pub right next to the station, every year.

In my top 3 favourite sets of fans along with WBA and Ipswich.

Good luck for the run in.

    UTT

    OK Understood

I knew what you meant just didn't want Nobby to think he had found a new fan from somewhere.

Apropos Nobby you should also consider the Courthouse just outside the station. Cheap beer, wall to wall screens with live football and just 8.5mins walk from the ground, with a following wind. They have really nice net curtains in the windows too.

    "Wall to wall screens"??

A tiny box in the top corner??
    You seeing double again?!

    Better description of Courthouse
    A pub full of misfits
Cheap beer, and full of people who love cheap beer .... NOT a place to watch TV because the screens are small & you'll get "latched on to" by one of the "misfits".

But a great place to meet folks :D (Y) (pint) (raiseaglass) (nodding2fingers)

The courthouse? That's the last place I wanna end up (clap)

Seem like a good set of lads, really looking forward to it. Can't make QPR away cos of work so it'll be my next and last away game this season (unless we get in the play-offs, but let's face it, not happening).

As for Barnsley the place, I won't tell you what a few people have said about the town and your women. Still, you all say the same about us dan sawf!

    Come on you addicks!

    Welcome in advance mate

In my experience, most of the people who slag Barnsley (as a place) off have never actually been there. The town itself is pretty ugly but the surrounding areas, including parts of national parks and nature reserves, are actually very beautiful. Fact is, fewer people leave Barnsler than any other town in the UK. If you drive from London to Leeds on the M1, the stretch between junction 36 (Barnsley South) and junction 38 (Barnsley North) is generally thought to be the most beautiful landscape on the entire M1.

Whatever you decide to do a warm welcome and hope you come with an open mind. Oh, and I hope we murder you but then you hope that too.

Keep in touch until the game. And take no notice of Fired she wants to keep the pub to herself :D

    There is a big difference...

... between "totty" as you put it (strange word for a lady to use) and people you might wish to marry. Anyway I have been thinking of little Else since my trip to Whispers in 1985 or thereabouts!

Anyway, you are moaning at me for marrying someone from down south and (later) someone from outside the UK.

Whom did you marry then? That's right - a bloody dee dar! Talk about putting one's foot in it :D

Yeh, not at all mate. I'm sure it is nice, you know what people are like in this country, mostly negative Barstewards who struggle to say a good thing about anything!

Looking forward to meeting some Barnsley fans and seeing a good game. I generally get on alright with northern folk, my moms is a geordie so I generally understand your thought process :D

Will defo stick around in the lead up to the game, and after, depending on what reception I get! As for getting murdered, you know it;s not gonna happen. How can we fail with Darren Ambrose leading our attack (N) :'(

    Hee hee

Of my 2 wives, one is a southerner turned Barnsley fan, the other lost interest in football after going to Wenbley (Ipswich 2000) and Cardiff (Swansea 2006) and had a season ticket in the prem season and the one before.

I thank you for your magnanimous admission of absolute total defeat. Very impressive. How is the wrist?

I lived on IOW in Ryde for 10 years so know what travelling to watch your beloved team is like. I often had wait in Pompey for the 2am ferry after going to night games in London. Oakwell is bliss for parking: 2 massive car parks at the ground! Park up and then walk to one of the pubs mentioned! Plus you will have a stand that holds 6500 to tourselves... David

Look forward to it mate, but

Too late, too much wine and too tired for tonight.

11:30 over here (Germany) must get to bed. Will be in town for the game must meet up. Good luck in the meantime, especially against Southampton and later on against Coventry.

Really? Fair play mate, I don't know too many from the island who go and follow their teams religiously. Probably cos most down here support United or Arsenal, a good excuse for the many glory hunters out there. ****, I even know some Pompey fans who have never been to Fratton park!

As for the Barsteward 2am ferry, it's been known for me to be stuck in the car ferry port until 4! Absoloute nightmare, but worth it, in the hope of my beloved addicks getting a result!

Definitly will be walking to som of the pubs mentioned, hope to see some of you there. As for the 6500 stand,,,it won't be needed. We only took 950 odd to Plymouth. Disgraceful!

First ever new car I had

Got broken into parked up outside the Valley some years back. Think we'd just drawn 1-1. Two windows smashed, bit of a rummage, nothing taken but I had to drive home with some reight air-conditioning! Never been back since.
