RE: Barnsley v Liverpool Footage Part Three

great to see that again, Cant believe it was so long ago. It seems like only a couple of years in my mind.
Where was the Famous Anfield Roar that night, Liverpool were out fought, out played, out sung and nearly out of the cup.

    "IO Barnsley! Barnsley IO!".....

Happy days indeed.... Mind you, i had to laugh at "the referee's a Barsteward!" chant. The noise from Barnsley's support is incredible - the roar of expectation as it looks like Aylot is about to score is fantastic! Mr Courvoissier is now accompanying me as i'm about to about on phase 3 with ye olde nostalgic glint in my eye...... still getting the bloody goosebumps anall!

    They even had the sense

to sing "Come on you whites!"

I've been to plenty away games when we've been playing in a change kit and the fans are singing "Come on you reds" when the opposition are in red!

RE: And you called me lad

I have reached the 43 mark old bean........... the term lad is what i've always referred to a close mate of mine, and seeing as i got all nostalgic you copped for the 'lad' label :D

Due to my work/ family commitments i've rarely had the opportunity to see the Reds over the past 8 years but having watched youtube it's stirred some emotions..... i shall be onto a client regarding a a certain Saturday job this weekend tomorrow.

Ayup lad, ar tha goin on?

I remember the night well. Wasn't it the same match that the Barnsley lad got carpet knifed and had 175 stiches in his back?

Remember also that for the replay all carpet knives had sold out in Barnsley.........

I've just seen more in that clip ........

...... than I did on the night. Got there ten minutes from the end. Scouser in Car Park told us it was one - nil to Liverpool; it wasn't til next morning I found it was nil-nil (my uncle had an old Escort; radio's were optional extras back then).

What a team. Absolutely no fear. Watch again and see how relaxed they were. And it was like that week in, week out for a few seasons. Normans Conquest indeed. I've said it before and I'll keep telling anyone who will listen, this was my favourite era of watching the Reds.

    I remember it well

We filled one and a half sides of the ground. The scouses didn't know what hit them when the whole lot sang you'll never walk alone. I remember after the match that an 'old git' startet mouthing us as we started to leave the stand. He came down and had a go at mi owd man as we went down the stairs........ don't mess wi us :D (casualty) . The problem was that was only the beginning..... waiting for the bus to fetch us from the corner of the park was murder! Good job there were 40-50 of us!

Anybody else get rich collecting all the coins that the cop threw at us???? Anyone see the carboard and razorblade spinners they sent over? Absolutely crazy!

We, along with 16 000 others, were stuck on the M62

When a Scouser in the car on our outside asked us if we were going to the game. We said yes, so he offered to show us a short cut if we followed him. Reluctantly we did so and a short time later, we pulled up in a darkened side street next to the ground. The four of us got out of our car, bracing ourselves for a beating. Our guide climbed out and said "All the best lads" and began walking off. We called after him, asking why he wasn't going to the game? "I'm an Everton fan", he called back, "I hope you fecking stuff the Barstewards" was his reply.
We got into the ground about 10 minutes before half time. I can only repeat what a wonderful, fabulous evening and game it was. I honestly thought we were on the verge of something massive at our club, with the best team it's been my pleasure to watch in the forty years of going down to Oakwell.
