    The winter of 79/80 was bad. The steel strike started in January 1980 and we were out for 3 months. Thatcher and McGregor rehearsing for a bigger confrontation a few years later! The snow had turned to concrete on the streets of Stocksbridge.

    Yes and in such good quality as well. Love to see our games with different camera angles like that but in those pre-Sky days we were hardly ever on the telly. Not like now when we’re always on

    I was working at a guys house at Stocksbridge. He lives right up on the top near the rugby club and was showing me some photos of the snow from years gone by.

    It was like bloody Norway!
