You are saying then that Southend do not normally start wasting time from the FIFTH minute of a match, or play the blatant gamesmanship card throughout a match? But then you admit that your keeper has a history of doing what he did. He was very lucky that the referee was so incompetent because he got away with it big time there. Red card for pulling Fletcher down was debatable but standing so far to the side of the goal and making Hourihane wait was just CHEATING. The imbecile with the whistle must be his uncle or something.

As I said your team played well and were too good for us on the day but it's a shame when players have to resort to the kind of tactics they did on Saturday. We were due a defeat but that just left a nasty taste in the mouth.

I'm not against using the long throw tactic but not EVERY time.

I'm saying we don't play like that, because we DON'T. I don't have a clue why we played like it on Saturday. Also, with Bentley, its hardly a "history" of doing that, he's done it once before and has faced a few penalties earlier on in the season, without doing it.

It was a foul, no arguments. At first I thought it was a red but having seen the highlights, Barrett & Thompson would have got back, so only a deserved yellow.

I don't think Saturday was disappointing. It was a frustrating game where they got the goal at the right time & then just competed for 90 minutes. I thought we played reasonably well, created plenty of chances & still could've won it. Just one of those things - more than happy if we see such performances between now & the end of the season. We'll always come up against sides like that - I don't think they were dirty or over physical, just blokes playing blokes football. Our lads need to learn and this season has shown with time they will.

Yes but now that he knows he can get away with it he will keep doing. Simple solution in my original post- ref blows whistle, penalty taker rolls it into the net. Keeper looks a fool and doesn't do it again. Simple game.

Brownhill was the worst player on the pitch second half, beyond poor. Time and again he chose the wrong pass and cost us several counter attacking opportunities.

Matter of opinions, and I often disagree with yours.

In a midfield that offered almost zero, Brownhill was the only one making a fist of it. He might have chosen the wrong option a couple of times (not time and time again - I wish we'd had that many opportunities) but he was the only midfielder looking creative. Expectations are high at the moment, which is why I think some players are being singled out as having 'shockers', when in reality they were just average.

    http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showth...-whether-the-Southend-keeper-should-have-gone

In case you are still bothering to look on here.......

Incontrovertible proof what a cheating goalkeeper you have. Practically had Fletcher's legs in a vice. If that is not a red card then nobody should ever be sent off for anything. As others have said the defenders were nowhere near. Fletcher is pretty quick by the way so, but for your cheating goalkeeper, he would have scored. At 1-1 we would have gone on to win the match. It's as simple as that.
