    Apologies for not reading all of this thread but if I had I would have been really pissed off with your final sentence. Spud never attempted such a reckless thing as an "overlap". If getting close to the half way line he would naturally turn and pass back to the keeper. Those were the days!

    Sorry, but I remember a long string of Murphy crosses, all headed unerringly into the crowd behind the goals on the Ponte End. Bob Parker would do likewise from the other side, but much less often. Those, indeed, were the days.
