FACT thats a strong word unless you can back it up. Talking to someone about what may or may not happen is more opinion. The club cannot allow radio sheffield to broadcast those games from Oakwell until things are sorted otherwise the club will lose its stance and the moral high ground it is taking and will look a right cnutos
I was replying to D/T mate Sorry for the confusion. My point is a general one that applies to such a situation as this. If a radio station agrees a deal for commentary rights for a club both home and away, the home clubs are not able to refuse entry to their visitors' official station.
It won't lose anything. In such a situation, the station in question would simply treated as the away station I should imagine.
I don't know how else to explain it mate, I've explained what I have been told the rules are between clubs and radio stations of opposition teams etc. Hopefully the club and RS can sort something. If not I can't see how BFC could stop RS from coming to those games, should they want to.
Yes they can. The club has the right to refuse admission...that means they can tell the pope to go **** if they wanted
Do Radio Sheffield have a commentary deal with any clubs in the Championship other than Sheff Utd and Sheff Weds?
to commentate on any championship game they have to pay the home team something like £600 and the away team a smaller figure, all they have done by paying the sheffield teams a fixed amount is to agree to have that fee removed for the sheffield teams, they still have to pay for their opposition same as they would if they'd paid match by match. surely if radio sheffield can force barnsley to allow them to commentate on a game with sheffield wednesday just because they've paid the away team's fee (Wednesday's) then they can do exactly the same when we play cardiff by paying £300 to cardiff (or whatever the away team figure is) and forcing us to accept £600 like they will do when we play the pigs.
Radio Sheffield do not have a season long agreement with Cardiff City. (I wouldn't imagine!) I shall say no more, I'll let people decide and make their own mind up from what I've said.
Right !!!!! ... scenario.... </p> Paul Walker turns up at the door to Oakwell</p> PW "Hi I'm here to cover the match."</p> Staff "no you're not you don't have an agreement with us"</p> PW "ah but I have an agreement with owls/utd to cover their away match"</p> Staff "agreements not with us, you can't have access. Now go away"</p> What happens next ?</p> A. PWwalks away as he knows hehas no right to access.</p> B. PW says " under football league rule xyz you have to grant me access as you(or the league) have signed up to it" (said by PW in a smug manner)</p> C. BBS comedy ending where PW drybums the staff member and they both skip away to the tune of crossroads (copyright TFP)</p> </p> </p>
So in order to provide any coverage of a team on the radio you have to have a season long agreement in place?</p> Nothing can be done on a game by game basis?</p> </p>
My understanding of this is exactly what Journo has said. RS can go to any away ground with Sheff Utd or Wed, just as they can with the other South Yorkshire clubs they have a deal with, even though it is only the Sheff clubs that affects us as they are in our league. When they do this it is classed as an away game because they have the contract with the away team.
