Unbelievable that anyone could be negative in this thread. It's an historic moment, let's hope they don't find this thread in 2123... Let's have a look back at what they thought..
It’s the reason I very rarely go on Twitter now, it’s full of knob heads, “and what ever I write on here I’d say it to their Face……….book”
I thought this was going to be a thread comparing Barnsley women from now against those from when Hristov was here. Best of luck for the future girls. Onwards and upwards.
I couldn’t make yesterday but what a fantastic occasion, the result was immaterial, well done to all involved.
I was worried this was going to be a Georgi Hristov thread! Really pleased we have a women's Barnsley team at the stadium now
You might be watching Abi there in a couple of seasons. Not sure which position she plays at the moment, but she looks like she'll reach the height for a central defender, based on seeing her at parkrun last week.
Mary Earps wannabe. Going well, parents player of the season last year and she reckons already taller than both keepers yesterday.....
I'll pass your comments onto my daughter and her team mates. Why not stay and encourage these young women ? Hope your daughter/ granddaughter wants to play football in the future and needs your level of support.
totally agree - I would be immensely proud if either of my two daughters were selected to play for their home team - we should encourage the team. o/t (have mentioned it on another thread) surprised there was no Matchday Programme to note this historic event.
Could you also pass on my comments to your daughter. I attended the game yesterday afternoon and found the whole experience delightful. Thoroughly enjoyed the game and the wholehearted commitment from the reds against a good athletic Alnwick Town. Losing the central defender to injury in the first half did not help. It was a delight to be there yesterday and the overall atmosphere of the event was uplifting, great to see so manty young women in the East stand and on the concourse enjoying the occasion. Could only be declared as a big success!
I hope she enjoyed the experience and was buoyed by the fantastic reception at the end from the 2,000+ in attendance
Many thanks for your comments, we were proud parents as were others. In legends suite after her press duties young fans were asking for her autograph. Great day all round apart from scoreline, but Alnwick are an established club at that level.
Disagree, 2 very poor Sunday league teams would not have got around the Oakwell pitch for 90 minutes plus like these lasses did yesterday. Especially in those temperatures/conditions.
This is a fantastic venture, and couldn't be better timed. Being on the the back of the Euro and World Cup successes, rising public interest and increasing gates and media coverage it seems like the perfect opportunity. It will be interesting to see how future development, admin and scouting is done and how it integrates with the mens club. Good luck to to everybody involved.
Reach for the stars... With good backing from the club and potential for big crowds like yesterday I think our girls can soar up the leagues
