genuine question. not taking the pi$$, it's something I think about. do you still seek out new music, or did you reach a point where you couldn't be ar$ed anymore and decided to stick with what you already knew? I can't imagine a point where I'm not looking for new music, but maybe I'm just not old enough yet!
I agree. I only have their first two albums, but I was thinking yesterday that might use up some of my Xmas vouchers and expand my collection.
First I heard of them was probably about 15 years ago, they supported someone (can't even remember who, might have been Reuben??) and utterly blew me away, one of the best support bands I've seen.
It's a fair question. I don't actively seek out new music in the same way that I did in my younger years. Back then, I bought NME every week, read my mates Sounds, listened to John Peel's show and the Friday Rock Show, and tuned in to watch The Tube, Old Grey Whistle Test, and Radio 1 In Concert. I spent hours browsing in Casa Disco and checking out what my mates were discovering too. These days, I'm happy enough to listen to stuff I already have. Often on random play, so that I get that nice "Oh, yes, not heard this in a while" feeling. All that said, I'm still receptive to new things. I really enjoy the BBS music threads and I now have albums in my collection by artists I wouldn't have come across otherwise... Anders Buaas, Cats In Space, The Murder Capital... I've also downloaded odd tracks too that have grabbed me - a brilliant Hawkwind track that @Jay recommended, for example, and other things by Samantha Fish and Billy Strings. Plus I'm also working backwards through the late 60s/early 70s, mainly through the excellent "I'm A Freak, Baby" collections (worth every penny!). Sorry... a long-winded answer to a simple question.
Try to understand it, though it's very hard to see The reason that we are living no longer seems to be Revolution's coming; the chaos will soon end We've reached the age of learning You'll see it in the end It's so easy, it's so easy, it's so easy, it's so easy To say what you say, do what you want It happened today; no matter what they say, this world's so mixed up everywhere you go Everywhere you go, everywhere you go, everywhere you go
That's the one. Love it. I can't believe I have a Hawkwind "Best Of" triple album and this track isn't on it. Criminal. Anyway, if I forgot to say Thanks at the time, I'll say it now. Thanks!
They never recorded it in a studio, or never released a studio recorded version at any rate, the live version is the only version I believe. That's about as much as I know about Hawkwind. I'm not a big fan or an aficionado. I heard the song on the radio one day and loved it. Still do.
Reuben and Oceansize in the same thread! It’s about as good as it gets What about this Jay! @Thrappo Tyke
It's a good thing you had the radio on that day or I might never have heard it either. I feel like I'm in a Dirk Gently novel... "the fundamental interconnectedness of all things."
