Very true. Take Seema Jaswal. We were interviewed by her very early doors at the snooker and tb f she was horrendous. A few years on she's a lot better, but doesn't have that natural readiness in front of the camera as say Gary Linekar does. I couldn't do it
The thing about all this is. If my son/daughter had been solicited by a very famous news presenter to send sexual images at an illegal age I would quite simply walk into the local police station and report it in the FULL knowledge that being such a high profile case they'd act on it immediately for fear of further batterings in the press for police failure and incompetence. The last thing I'd do is go running to The Scum. That's not to say that there is or isn't a case to answer in this report. Going to the gutter press should never figure in the thoughts of any responsible parent though.
I would recommend anyone listen to The News Agents podcast from yesterday. The guy on there gave a brilliant explanation of the whole situation. He also made the point that readers of the sun feel very close to the paper and would actually see them as friend in some way so it wouldn’t be unusual for a reader to trust them with this sort of information.
I was interviewed on camera about 20 years ago. Every sentence devolved into "Um", "Er" and "Ar" and my IQ dropped about 50 points. I'm sure with practice I would get better, but I'd never be a TV presenter.
Judging by the reports of denial from the young person's lawyer, it sounds very much to me that the mother has decided to try and monetise it using the Super Soaraway Scum... https://www.theguardian.com/media/2...ubbish-says-young-person-at-centre-of-scandal
Take it from me, if you're ever stopped in public to give an interview on camera (a 'vox pop', as they're known), they will never, ever, ever use the bit you thought was the best, where you thought you'd made some kind of sense.
From what I’ve read, the person was using OnlyFans and the presenter was a subscriber paying them very generous ‘tips’ for additional content. It’s a bit of a strange story TBH.
What makes no sense about that though is that the estranged mother claims she has seen bank transactions in the presenters name for up to £5000 at a time. If it's only fans then that wouldn't be the cas and she would simply see regular transactions from only fans itself to the 'content creator' not from individuals. If the person was indeed using only fans and allowing individuals to privately pay them for additional content then the only person doing anything illegal there is her child who was evading tax and also breaking the rules of only fans.
If they were using OnlyFans, then the age-verification for the models should prove that they were over the age of consent when they joined. The presenter would have been under the impression that they were 18 and therefore *no laws were broken*.
i imagine the idea was to get around only fans fees yeah. immoral and against their T&Cs i’m guessing but probably not illegal. could also argue the money was a gift and as such not subject to tax.
I guess many of us would say £35k spent on porn is a huge sum, but he's on a 6 figure sum, so can afford it. But, the BBC have just released their table of high earners and for example, there's a certain newsreader on there who earns £435k, so £35k is a months salary, give or take. That's still a fair wedge, a months salary on photos, u could probably get online for free....crazy.
Maybe its time to pay some attention to the Sun - and why they had a drunken party during the Covid lockdown in December 2020 where a 50 year old editor allegedly got handsy with a PA 30 years younger in a glass fronted office (See Popbitch 20/1/2021 for details) Or is that acceptable unless its a BBC presenter?
A second accusation now about the same presenter. BBC News - BBC presenter sent abusive and menacing messages to second young person https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66165766
