Absolutely 100% looking forward to it, same as with any new signing. There's always that bit of hope that we're about to witness a new BFC legend.* I'm a little concerned that he's going to have undue expectation placed on his shoulders, but I liked the immense self-confidence he displayed in his interview. I hope he smashes it. * This included debuts for Obbi Oulare and Aaron Leya Iseka in recent seasons so, while the hope is allowed to fly high, the expectation remains firmly limited.
It appears the signing of Rodrigues is firmly on the recruitment team which is unusual but it'll be interesting to see the faith they've put in him.
Looking forward to him scoring 3 on debut and Mladen windmilling on the Town Hall steps at 4pm shouting "Staton. Where are ya. Let's be having you"
I hope he gets a shortish cameo appearance off the bench. Start against tired legs and see if a bit of pace and trickery can work and give him and fans a much needed confidence boost. Personally, I don't mind we're taking a punt on him. It's low risk, if it doesn't work we have no obligation. However, what I did find ridiculous was that we went into the window knowing we needed 2 strikers. By the end of the window we'd brought in one, while loaning out another 3. And on top of that, we obviously have 2 of our existing forwards being injured for 4-6 weeks. That's the part I find negligent, not that we brought in this lad.
I think we are all on board with that summary. But we’re less than 24 hours away from kick off so I felt like we could try and park all that for a bit. Let’s hope he’s more Daryl Dike than Nick Proschwitz.
I guess they're one and the same really. I mean here's one example I've found from this past week, there's worse ones I'm sure: Maybe he will be a gem we pluck out of nowhere. More likely he will be in on this forum in a few years time within a thread of “players you forgot played for us”.
We must be due an iconic (for good reasons) debut. Though I sadly won't get to witness it, a hectic weekend of househunting, DIY and tidying awaits!
I expect nothing less than either scoring 4 goals in a second half cameo appearance before pulling up injured and out for the season, or starting the game, being caught in possession twice leading to home goals and being hauled off after 20 minutes to a chorus of boos from the away fans.
Pretty much how Mael started life at Oakwell. Apologies if that was the intended meaning behind your post, I'm tired
